And how does your 50 tubes Orion the lrm 60 trick?
Please explain that, because I don't get it.

Very bad - Unarmored arms, slower engine than my Highlander setup, only fires 5 more missiles. Some case can be made for Medlas over ER PPC but not on something that slow.

then the new Orion makes a nice lrms boat:

Now this one, as far as heavy missile boats go, is pretty good. I personally detest XL engines on a heavy and above when they are carrying this much ammunition, but all in all, that's pretty solid if you alternate your firing groups. It hits all the right notes. I really do suggest moving the ammo out of the legs, going to standard and fitting a CASE on a similar setup - even if you lower the launchers a bit to do it, though, as it will be far more survivable.

As is it'll do tons of damage unless it's engaged, and then it will die frighteningly fast.

come tonnage limits it might be the top!
Then, the med's go to this:

currently running the strk version but im sure this one will do fine.
I run lrms to much, but I enjoy it. In fact run everything. However, good lrms are a nitch and I wanna fill that!

I will admit, I hate the Kintaro. It's got an awful hitbox even though the missile hardpoints are very nice. I'd recommend modifying the Kintaro to be an oversized 2x LRM15 1x TAG 'mech honestly, though; or doing a 2x10 3x5 setup since 5s don't chain for ghost heat. Basically lose the PPC and buff up the launchers.

edit: in pugs pure lrm is asking to just get killed! In a team not so much, 4 man have some backup. However, even in pugs a pure lrm boat can rack up the c-bills!

Pure LRM can work, but again, you've got to have the speed. That Kintaro of yours could work fine without the ER PPC, if you took that weight and invested it in some bigger launchers and/or a bigger engine; that way you can return to your main group if you get something on you.

I don't like the Kintaro* but it does do alright at that.

* If it got rescaled I'd like it quite a bit.

Drop 2 of those LRM15s to LRM10s, stick in an XL300, drop 16 points of armor from the legs, and throw in AMS. No second volley of missiles, better ammo efficiency, more maneuverable, AND safer to run (AMS really should be required on all missile boats to help prevent it from being taken out by another missile boat).

Otherwise that looks like a fun LRM Boat.

That's really awful.

Armor spent on an arm sporting a single MG, a MG, ammo for the MG, ammo in the legs (A big nono on assaults).. while I again do not advise anyone use assaults for LRM boating, this would be a HUGE improvement man:

Victor's Improved LRM Highlander

You can alpha strike the missiles now with 0 Ghost Heat (15s&10s changed to 20s & 5s, which don't link), you have a TAG to fast target 'mechs and break ECM, you have a BAP to counter 'mechs that try to get up close and speed your lock time further, your 2 ML 1 MG backup became a single ER PPC backup gun, that is effective at both LRM ranges and up close, and I increased the amount of ammo, put it into the side torsos, and added CASE.

PS: You forgot ammo for your MG in the posted build above too, btw!

EDIT: Screwed up and put both CASE on the same side torso in the first post. Fixed.

Eh - I don't own a victor and don't really want to slog one up. Maybe it's just the way I play (and a lot of these builds and how effective they are come down to exactly that), but I have a 3:1 KDR with my build and average 400 damage a game, and usually more since it took me a week or so of bad games and bad builds with a new chasis to settle in on a build for it.

I was also just slapping down the general idea, so yeah - I probably goofed a couple things, but the general idea was use the ballistic slot for a machine gun because by the time you're tanking it up with the enemy, they're all beat to hell by all the missiles.

And I don't necessarily agree with your assessment that Assaults shouldn't be LRM boats. They can carry more armament than any other class, so they're more effective as LRM boats, too.

With this game, how well you aim, and how well your teammates play the game, are a lot more important than your build.

...unless you're running something with 7 TAGs and a NARC or something.

I've been running this through every phase of the LRM growth 'nerf' whatever. Always viable, most of the time super deadly. I don't think I own another mech that can as easily swing a game single handedly in a normal PUG game.

Has usual weaknesses of ECM light swarm, not paying attention to your positioning to get face hugged, and so on. Once you get the general idea of LRM boating no other mech does it better currently.

I've been tossing around the idea of creating an LRM boat, and I know the Awesome and Stalker are the best chassis for this since they are not weighed down by ballistics. I also am aware of the drawbacks of the Awesome (hitbox issues), but I've never been comfortable in a Stalker - the poor torso twist and lack of horizontal arm movement bugs me. So, the Awesome, despite its weaknesses, is probably what I'm shooting for.

I know the 8V and 8R are the best for missile boats, probably with piles of LRM15's and a BAP and Tag. Any build suggestions would be appreciated, especially from folks who have working Awesome LRM boats. Thanks!

I don't know if they fixed but if you use a 20 you get a 30 so you can have 120 LRMs.
