Wager your pride! Guess the pig's weight size and win the admiration of your peers!

Thunderbolt, bigger then the awesome, same size as the awesome, smaller then the awesome. gather round people and place your bets!

* I'm betting a bit bigger then the awesome due to the missile pod.

I will refer people to this chart from now on when they think tonnage matters in size:

though they don't scale based on Canon. There was another chart for Inner sphere mechs. and the centurion is supposed to be as big as the hunchbac.

so if they arn't referencing sources, the only reliable source is tonnage. and the purpose of scale is balance.

do you seriously want a 25 ton mech to be as tall as a 70 ton mech? how broken would this game be if jenners were the same size as catapults.

like in that chart the fire moth is practically as big as the dire wolf. Who the hell would ever play light or medium mechs.

Well I do have the official blueprints at hand for 6 mechs.
The short of it is the bigger mechs were more or less 12 meters and the lighter mechs were 6-12 meters The locust is 12,6 meters with its legs extended so max 10 meters walking I figure since it written to be the smallest mech while walking its 6 meters with just some super long legs.

Yes I get the fact small mechs need to be small and big mechs big but really there is not much of a difference overall in size scale.

As for the IS chart its in the TRO 3039 and does not provide true sizes but a idea of sizes on average, which I think is where MWO is going from. here it is in its glory:

lol there are 2 pieces of contradicting material. one that says light mechs are small. and another one that says light mechs are just as big as assaults...

if canon isn't reliable, all the more reason to scale with balance in mind.

This.

Gameplay > Charts.

Also, odds are it will end up the same size as an AWS when all is said and done, but I'm hoping it's closer to Dragon size before adding the shoulder launcher.

Let me go find the wasp blue print and do the measurement. The locust is with stretched out legs not fo how it would be moving with its legs at 45 degrees or so.
I think the wasp would better fit into both size tables. I could be wrong though.

Edit is for the Wasp size it is 10.6 meters high with antenna 10 meters without.

So an Atlas is 16 meters and the jenner is slightly taller then half in game putting it around 10 meters sems about right form size difference from canon to game. give or take +/-1 meter.

The point is the average mech is 12.6 meters and that is why we see very little differences in height.

It moves at the average speed for its weight class so it's most likely to be about the size of a cataphract.

In response to clan scale pictures: Those are also clan Mechs bro. Some Mechs will obviously be different height if they are shaped weird. Some examples of IS Mechs were fairly similar in size based on tonnage, like the Centurion, Hunchback, and Trebuchet. Some obviously would not, like a King Crab would not be the same heigh as an Atlas, since its well, a crab, and not humanoid.

Hm. I don't know whether to feel sad or amused, using the Awesome as the measuring stick for scale.
Then again, since our Central Torso hitbox is just SO huge...

I bet they would make it smaller than the Awesome.
