Tell us what you think of the Upcoming Movement Changes

What do I think... well... about damn time? :) lol just kidding, brilliant idea really and I'm all for it. This will definitely make a bit of difference in strategy and maybe encourage "proper" jump jet usage? LOL!

Tactics are going to be changed and the game feels like it's going in the right direction. Thank you for this!

But as someone said, some kind of view mode for slopes so you can see would be nice for the people who are new in the game so that they dont try to climb unclimable slopes.

EDIT: Kind of like the "Dart Overlay" in the game Syndicate. Add sloping in heatvision?

Yeah I love this change and can't wait. It will change some maps to a vast degree IMHO. Not always for the better, but that's the rolling battlefield for you - you can't always get what you want. <_<

One thing is clear, sniping possies with Gauss/PPC/ER LL/AC will become sought after real estate now and if your team doesn't have any JJ capability, you are going to be buggered (yes, i'm looking at you, Sniper Comm Tower Hill of Despair on Forest Colony).. But as everything, the gameplay will evolve to negate the advantage. Humans are a clever lot. But yes, thank Kerensky the mountaineering and spelunking antics (Alpine...) will stop.

That said, I have to question NOT the manner, BUT THE implementation of the what 'mech falls into which category.. (as a thousand voices cried out in unison).. It needs to look at:
- Leg type
- Weight
- Speed
C'mon.. Stalker? Bump it up. Bump the WinJen Up. Raven and Quickdraw down..

Just wonder how long it's going to take me to not want to run up sheer cliffs anymore :D

Love it, but this "size" thing seems a bit silly. Why not by weight? At least give the mediums some advantage over the heavies. Was hoping I'd be able to outmanoeuvre Jags and 'Phracts in one of the 50-tonners at least.

Finally!

Errr, what about water depth affecting movement speed by the way?

Surely a Spider should be able to climb up 90* walls.....

Mass of the mech makes more sense than type for effecting up hill speeds. According to the fluff there was also an issue with those "chicken-walker" reverse joint legs going up hill. Something about they weren't good at it. But I'd be happier with the mass being the deciding factor. Also there needs to be a speed increase going down hill via relative mass of the mech.

Love this change, even though I only have one mech with JJ. Seems like a great fix and moves JJ more into a tactical category than they were before.

What I really like about this is that, from the images, it looks like the changes go beyond the boundary edges of the maps. So when are these maps going to be opened up and we can wander into the "FORBIDDEN ZONE?"

IMO, this is actually a buff for medium mechs as they are given more tactical flexibility and role.

Stalker and Catapult in the same category is just lolz. Just as Stalker not being in the same category with Atlas, Highlander and Victor. Why does PGI hate Catapults and loves those f****** Stalkers so much... ?

Quite simple. PGI has no idea what they are doing.

I just still don't understand by what logic are Jager and Cataphract in the same category as a hunchback and blackjack.

This thing has a potential of finally making mediums a more flexible alternative to heavy mechs, not just inferior, so I really don't understand why those mechs are all stuck in the same category. Also, catapult in the same class as stalker?! Come on people, are you really intentionally trying to make them useless?!

I don't often say this about changes in MWO, but my initial kneejerk reaction to the movement changes is that they are bloody appalling.

very much dislike being defeated by small inclines and rocks

After the 7/2/2013 patch:

I dropped in my HGN onto canyon network, I jumped up to the top of one of the hills, but my jj was slightly less than required for landing on the level top... I could not finish the negligible (sp) trot to the top, maybe the height of my mech's foot... ok, above the angle requirement, I can get that...

however, should I be allowed to navigate alongside it, I turned 90 degrees and walked along the edge of the 'non-navigable' terrain, thankfully I could, as it was the only way off the hillside. I tried to jump off of the spot first, to no avail as my mvmt was halted entirely, no kph means you cant jump out of the stuck-zone.

When has PGI ever actually made a correct change in this game?

This breaks the game and wastes all the time I spent upgrading non-JJ mechs.

I dont object to movement penalties according to terrain being in the game. I object to this level of limitations. It is just too much.

Either you guys make JJ available to all variants or the game is now broken.

I second this, I feel extremely impaired, especially on mechs such as a QD that actually falls into an heavier category probably just because of its absolutely out of any logic.. scale.

Seriously getting completely stuck even on not that extremely tight slopes or tiny rocks just because there's a slope slightly higher makes me feel that the game is broken.. I'm fine if the traverse speed gets reduced but these things got legs, even an atlas come on..

Its an interesting feature but I want to run down hills faster too now...

*sells every non JJ mech since you get stuck on tiny rocks*

This is the worst thing they have ever done to the game. I have yet to meet anyone who has actually played with the changes and likes it. The maps are not designed with this in mind. And lets just forget about that "IF it has snow on it you can climb it" line because it isn't true. Why bother upgrading engines when your going to be slowed to a crawl by every little change in elevation. I see no real reason for this.
