Your VOIP could be overheard if you were close enough to someone, so if you grabbed a guy from behind you could talk into his ear before you knocked him out. You had gadgets to spy on their VOIP, didn't work if you were out... it was all very cool
Chromehounds' communication towers were cool but very far removed from being believable...

What if you want to do something besides play with a bunch of gits wearing a clan tag, but still want the benefit of VOIP?
