I assume all the weapons will be forward facing?
I remember in battletech TT more than a few mechs had rearward facing weapons

may be a silly question but...

As said above, any rear-facing weapons will be forward-facing in MWO. See the Concept Art for the Centurion and the Dragon for evidence. Both mechs are tequipped with two medium lasers, one of which was traditionally rear-facing. In the concept art, both Mechs have two forward-facing medium lasers. Frankly, I think this is for the best. Rear-facing weapons are extremely situational anyway, not to mention extremely hard to aim. If a Jenner is running circles around you, a single rear-facing med laser isn't going to do you much good, especially if you can't actually see what you're trying to shoot.

The rear facing weapons just don't translate well into this kind of game. Even in the table top game there was a rule in there somewhere that a rear facing torso weapon could be made forward firing, but it had to stay that way for the duration of the game.

hmm The Atlas had two rearward firing med lasers, it kind of needed it. would be nice if it was an option in the mech lab to play around with
