Whoever is responsible for balance testing (and I don't mean Paul, although he seems to be the ideas man or the point of all balance changes) is doing a subpar job of REPLICATING conditions that you and I see in every match..

They obviously do not test anything for playability / balance.

LRMs wouldn't have been incredibly broken, all these different times, and still pushed to the live/public game and left that way for multiple days, if PGI actually had the Q/A in place to test anything for how it plays.

The problem is where PGI is hanging out and who they are hanging out with (NGNG). If you look hard enough you can see the mast of the NGNG studio's radio tower sticking out just about.....

It's not undermining them. They have set up these imaginary rules that they can't do exactly what you are doing. If they want to be competitive they need to get with the meta! It's their own fault for not playing to win.

Exactly this is why http://www.usatoday....doping/2471413/ should be reinstated with full honors. Ya gotta get with the META!!!

Sniping and doping. It's the only way to win (unless it's explicitly stated in the rules you're not allowed to).

My entire point being that we really need to get some good game balance because the play to win folk are an incredibly dull and boring lot. They favor winning and playing the same mech over and over again rather than using other mechs or load outs that are more interesting. If the EULA didn't explicitly state you can't use aim bot programs they would just so they could win than they would find a better game because they are being "forced" to use aim bots to stay competitive.

Know what's more boring than using an STK-3F over and over to destroy opponents with PPCs?

Using an AS7-D-DC, the ultimate brawler, and getting shredded over and over by long-range opponents who you can't even approach or damage, let alone, defeat and help your team to victory.

Which is exactly why we need some major game balance adjustments.

ERPPC/PPC will always be the go to weapon. Stock PPC mechs were it in the MPBT games, backed up with LRMs (with the occasional AC2 <_< ). The heat scale cap though kept things in perspective, as well as the mechs that carried it was either one or two, with the Awesome carrying three.

As for PGI thinking PPC/range fighting is boring, all of their videos have been in brawling situations. No wonder they doubled the armor ;)

As for lasers, when they hit from my stats, (er)large lasers are averaging about 5 dmg, medium lasers around 2.5 dmg. That is more likely spread across several armor locations, whereas gauss/er-ppcs are delivering all of their damage to one spot.

And I am starting to really hate those cicadas with ECM and twin PPCs.

Be honest though. Watching a video of mechs sniping from 1000m is dull as a sack of doorknobs. Doesn't make for good advertising.

Alternative objectives in battlefield
Commander mode
PvE scenario mode

Beta excuse does not work when it's not really a beta...

It's simply a lie of a term used on us to help calm the masses. The reality is that it stoped being beta when their full Free to Play method came online shortly after founders joined the scene.. It's an unfinished product that they are marketing, not a beta...

Oh yeah, if it was a beta, now would be the time to complain/suggest anyway...

So yeah, you're 0 for 2 on that post bud.

They are a boring lot because they have different values to you, sure.
And I suppose saying people better than you at aiming use aim bots, is a compliment.

There's no effective difference between this game and any release game. You pay money, you get game. Calling it a "beta" doesn't change anything. You two are arguing about nothing.

Definition of beta has changed over the years for better or worse, especially for a f2p game. The main point to take home is the game isn't done yet, don't be impatient. Taking out the word beta doesn't change that fact.
