Fire control macros are a fact of life in MWO.
See someone with quad AC2s firing at a constant fast fire rate? They are using a macro. This is not possible with regular chain fire unless you happen to be able to spam the button at a perfect speed - holding the button does not fire at (reload time / # weapons).

90% of the people doing this are using functionality built into their keyboard or mouse.
Personally, as long as you are not doing something not otherwise possible in the game (ie the macro does not let you fire faster than you normally could) then this should be allowed IMHO, but currently the situation is unfair - only people with expensive mice or who know how to program can have this feature, and this is wrong.

Previously I have been warned for posting a UAC unjamming macro (My opinion was "This is MWO, not Dance Dance Revolution") but my TAG toggle macro thread has gone un-deleted, so, I wish to put the following question to PGI:

If I post a thread containing a macro to make this available to everyone, will my thread get deleted?

What? Again? They have stated on more than one occasion that macros like this are legit. Macros that defeat a built in mechanic (like the UAC5 unjamming one) are grey area, but weapon firing macros are still game are fine and there are many threads on the subject that are still around.

I also posted one that fired UACs at the single shot rate so they would not jam - that got deleted and I got a warning.
There is no difference between that and a UAC2 script.

This is simply not true. It is very easy to do this without a macro. You simply stagger the times that you begin to fire each AC2.

For example for the triple AC2 dragon I've been putting around in my fire groups are as follows:

weapon group
AC2 2
AC2 2 3
AC2 2 4

So I would quickly hit the key for weapon group 4 then 3 and then hold 2 for as long as I want to shoot. And if I time it correctly, you will get the constant stream of auto cannon rounds.

I concede that using this method it is possible, but seriously, that isn't easy to do repeatedly in a fight, and you do not get a perfect fire rate.

As has been said before, there is no increase in DPS by using this AC2 macro.. Only an increase in annoyance to the enemy. The staggered fire however spreads your damage around more and is likely more of a disadvantage than an advantage.

You can not argue that having the UAC5 unjam as a macro is not an advantage. That is where the difference lies.

As I said, a macro that features no unjamming, just clicking at the "perfect" rate for a UAC5 single shot was banned.

I have just released my AHK macro template on GitHub.
The next task is to port my macros into the new template - this will allow me to write macros with a GUI to select options, and allow the user to bind whichever keys they like to the macro functions via the GUI.
