Had this bug 4 times in a row.

When dropping, HUD is fine, except cockpit is invisible. Other mechs are also only seen as outlines. Terrain such as hills appears translucent, aka I can see through hills, and there are wierd patterns on the ground.

Mechs are visible after being shot, and I can see their glowing armor. Still have friend or foe tags, and all of the HUD is visible and working fine.

The bug persisted after I closed and re-started the client.

What is going on here and how do I fix it?

That's actually the cloaking module. It comes stock with the new Marauders.

Are you by chance using an AMD GPU or an nVidia GPU?

If you're using AMD, did you happen to go into the Vision Engine Control Center and set Standard 3D Settings to "Use Custom Settings"? If you did, then that probably is the culprit.

That's crazy but who knows. Maybe it will give PGI ideas for new modules

I am having this exact same problem, but I have an ASUS video card, and the only aliasing setting I can find in game: Anti-Aliasing, ON/OFF, and whichever way it is I still get the same problem. I don't see anything in the settings for the card itself when I open up the tuning program.

Nvidia or ATI?

ATI,, start up the Catalyst program.

Gaming
3d applications
Antialiasing mode and samples, application control.

Nvidia

Close enough, copy/paste info..<G>

Changing Anti-aliasing Settings On nVidia Graphics Cards
  • Open your nVidia control panel. You can do this either by right clicking your desktop and select "NVIDIA Display" -> [name of your active monitor] or via "Properties" -> "Settings" -> "Advanced" -> [name of nVidia card].
  • With the control panel open, select "Performance & Quality Settings" on the left popup tab. Now choose "Add profile" in the main dialog.
  • You should now see a dialog named "Add Profiles". Enter whatever you want to name the profile in the "Profile" textbox, I suggest using the name of the game.
  • Now press the browse button at the bottom and navigate to the path where the MWO executable is located (By default: "Piranha Games / MechWarrior Online / Bin32 / MechwarriorOnline.exe').
  • The game is now added to the "Associated application" list, so scroll down till you find it (the entry is named the same as the executable you just added, ie. "MechwarriorOnline.exe") and tick the checkbox next to it. Click "OK".
  • Now we can finally adjust the settings we want to. Be sure that your profile name is selected in the "Application" dropdown before you start so that you edit the correct profile.
  • Now choose the "Antialiasing setting" from the "Settings" list and be sure that the box next to it is ticked. Then uncheck the "Application-controlled" option and slide the slider to "Off".
  • When you are done press "OK" and the changes should be applied automatically the next time you start the game.
