Ok let me preface this by saying I was a Starlance Head Admin for Mechcommander and MW4..PGI has/continues to screw this game sidewise to reap out as much profit as they can with as minimal service as they can possibly provide...and from the perspective of a person who helped run a league of 50,000+ active players...Players who continued to build mods, and new mechs after the developer had stopped supporting the game..

PGI you're kinda screwing the entire battletech community that has been waiting since EA's 3025 Battletech game for something "like this"...and have been screwed since Mircosoft decided to murder the mechwarrior/mechcommander series...We all waited a really long time for a good battletech game to come out..many of us jumped at this game thinking that it would be nigh impossible for PGI to screw up battletech given the community support that it has always received...and yet here we are..with a buggy game...that is so busy whoring content to make the developers rich that it has become World of Mechs...not Battletech...I for one having invested a considerable amount in this game due to the whole "OMG BATTLETECH" thing...am now left wondering if we're going to see PGI release a different title that is conspicuously well developed and funded...in the meantime...I dont really want to play a game that does nothing but make me wish Star Citizen gets done faster so i can play a game that actually has some concept of where its going..instead of "what content can we add that people will pay for"

ERMAGERD! ... wait... it's only another "PGI ruined everything!" Thread.

P.S., the only thing you invested was time. Everyone (initial investors excluded) who spent money on this game spent money for a product, they didn't spend money on an investment.

This is a business. Without product to sell PGI will go out of business. Why is this so hard to understand? Tracking down bugs is slow and methodical work. Making sure the game runs properly on hundreds of different configurations takes time.

Star Citizen will have a shop. It will sell things as well. It will have cash ships too. This is because the game cannot be funded totally by paint schemes and bobbleheads.

Really, what Battletech Titles have you "Managed", and what was your role in "Managing" them?

Well I dont know...anyone who has played battletech in any online variation since 1998...and mean MC, MC2,MW3/4, Totaltech/Megamek, MBPT 3025, MWLL, etc etc...you know all those games you didn't play because your mom probably hadn't given birth to you yet..

I disagree.. MWO is the best multiplayer PC game based in the Battletech universe to date.. IMO of course.

Well, that's currently on the market.

Arch does have a point...

We've seen HUD bugs and game lockups that were fixed in "Closed Beta" recently re-appear. This seems like poor QA regression testing or worse poor source code management. It's like one of the devs used some old code on their desktop, modified it and uploaded it to be part of the recent builds.

Mechcommander- Rules admin/Planetary admin (for referance Planetary is community warfare)
Mechcommander 2- Head admin worked directly with Microsoft's liason till they completely shafted the game
Mechwarrior 3/4 Rules/Planetary admin....

but the gist of my argument is PGI is not building a game..they are building a cashcow disguised as a game...and that kinda annoys me since I don't mind dropping in some cash..but I do mind when they don't make the game any better..in fact they have continued to compound issues they already have instead of fixing them...and then add new pay content on a semi-regular basis....but yah...if you "ppl" are willing to accept this game in the state it is and with how PGI is developing it...your welcome to it...what i'm saying is for us ppl who want a game that works instead of a shiney new premium mech... its kinda a joke..

Although I can agree that the bugs suck.

I cannot agree that they are just out to make money.

They are avid players, which I see playing this game very frequently.

They do not like the bugs anymore than anyone else here.

Ok let me preface this by saying I was a major head designer for Earthseige 1, 2, and Starseige and I have to say, this game, while it has some bugs, is way better than that other guys supposedly created games.

I'd like to see you code something.

Go read the recent command chair posts about the changes PGI is making to their bug tracking tools.

Oh, and come back when you have more specific complaints than "PGI RUINED EVERYTHING WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"

They're screwing the community by generally bringing MechWarrior back into the public eye with a top-notch graphics engine and fun gameplay for....gasp.... no cost to you at all?! Yes, this line of thought is understandable. Dropping your cash to make your game better is generally considered pay-to-win, a very off-putting notion in the free to play business, unless I've mistaken your meaning in that. Ah, yeah now I remember, it's threads like these that turned me off to the General Forums and allowed me to play the game again, and see just how many great strides PGI's made in making a fun and free MechWarrior.

why not be generous. there is no real lack of supply in an virtual market.

lower prices may bring new players to the game and increase demand.

The only thing you managed was servers. Managing servers is like servicing a vending machine: Show up once a week for 5 minutes just to make sure everything is in working order.

Once you actually contribute to Battletech in a meaningful way, please let me know..

I do not have any experience with online gaming. I like the game. I do see progress and I see promising concepts for the future / final release. Nobody forced me to drop the insame amounts of $$ I have either. I could have been a "free beer" type like all the others out there. So yes, I am in a very positive mood about this game. And you have to admit, shiny premium colors rock and really help me getting over it that I died again like the noob I am.

Yet I do have to admit that the latest patch was some weird f-up. It basically rendered the game unplayable for me, too. I do hope though that all will be well again in the near future. There is always hope, and hope dies last.

So basically, you think Piranha is screwing you because, there are bugs in the game, you think it's too much like WoT, and they sell things. Did I miss anything? This is absurd, they're not screwing anyone.

Unfortunately the imagination and creativity is ripped out of the cookie cutter business plans of today.

Instead we are left with archaic tired and stale methods of money extraction from customers.

each one of us is viewed as a ore pit and all the corporate entity is concerned for is how quickly they can strip mine us all.

This contrasts terribly with how things should be done . Cater to your customers desires needs and wants .

their should already be a stock only league . with gadgets and gizmos as rewards.

they should already be a solaris, and it should be equipped with a spectator mode. and it should be one of the games main points for advertising .

this in turns allows for the community to grow it gives pgi tools to nurture and grow the fan base .

There should be a subscription model for those who rather pay subscription rather than be ***** by free to play content..

unfortunately this will probably never be realized as they would rather put time and effort into creating undesired game play modes.

and their appears to be no desire to let the players participate in creation of in game content such as paint camo and skins. which would be a draw factor for those types who enjoy creating such things even monetizing this would be a boost to their bottom line .

but alas its not easy so its not even giving a proper plan of action, it is just laughed as yeah that would be nice .

one year we will see a return to allowing your fan base to actually participate and organically grow the fan base .

but until then we are left with bare minimum efforts to acquire the maximum reward in the shortest time business strategies that has just about wrecked every industry in this country.
