The AC weapons are sh*t on light mechs.

hitting a moving target was hard enough back when you were going 40kph. but lights go 100+ kph and its nearly impossible to land any ballistic hits. Plus your target is moving very fast too.

oh well

Who says you gatta be moving!? You'd be silly to be weaving in and out of enemy mechs without armor anyways lol. just keept a distance and peg people. When your out of ammo, SMALL LASER!!!

It's a valid tactic, and one that I am surely going to practice lol.

I've been contemplating an LB10-X, and just partnering up with nearby assault mechs and be that little mech that could. Popping out from behind and shooting mechs, then hiding behind the assault mech again.

Try an AC2 with 3 tons of ammo, an XL170 (for a top speed of 137.7kph), 5 single heatsinks, ferro and endo, and 71 points of armour. The objective would be to find a place out of the way of the battle and snipe at mechs, then if someone tried to close the distance to you run away to reset in another sniping position.

The main danger I see is a light mech chasing you down, and if that happens you could try leading them back to one of your group's mechs in hope that they'll unload on the light mech chasing you.

That being said, I think swapping the AC2 and ammo for a single ER Large Laser in the torso for sniping and quad MGs with one or two tons of ammo for late in the battle (run around trying to crit wounded mechs) might work better than an AC2.

I pretty much agree with Tennex, AC weapons on a light seem like crap.

My Raven 4X with an AC10 and 2 MLasers justy didn't put down damage (only about 120 ~ 150) per match. My Raven 2X with 2LLasers and 2MLasers...Much better damage (300+).

I am glad I can sell the 4X soon.

@ruccus. ....
I'd try that if u can find a way to launch with only 5 heatsinks.

The 170XL has 6 internal heatsinks, though I mistyped when I said 5 heatsinks (I altered the build from a 145XL which needs 5 external heatsinks to a 170XL which only needs 4).

Adding four external heatsinks to a mech with a 170XL engine (or 5 external heatsinks to a mech with a 145XL) means it has the ten needed heatsinks, and still has the tonnage to equip an ER Large Laser and four MGs with two tons of ammo, as well as a small amount of armour.

I think that with a small boost to MG's the 4xmg 1ML version will be a blast to play. With all the Locusts being sold as part of Project Phoenix, however, I expect to see a lot of troll builds. Locust is the new comedy choice. That being said, a quick glance through the TT record sheets shows me that a lot of perfectly viable builds will be possible if they match hardpoints. With so many Phoenix Mechs mounting MG's I hope to hell that PGI intends to do somthing with them....if not, we'll be facepalming every time we drop with one.....
