The LBX10 doesn't need a speed increase

It needs a weapon mechanic overhaul

The primary thing that needs fixing with the Auto Canons is that the AC/20 should not EVER out damage the other ACs within their respective effective ranges. AC10 vs AC20 (450m), AC20 wins. AC5 vs AC20 (620m), AC20 wins. AC2 vs AC20 (720m), AC20 wins. Only the Gauss Rifle wins that match up.

Velocity Increase + 33% faster ROF was the recommended fix.
This would allow the LBX to shower opponents with lots of scattered, but very easy to hit with, damage. That's a niche.

So I agree, velocity alone won't save the LBX. Combined with ROF, it would.

Here's the thing, I don't consider Gauss or LargeLaser disruptive.

Large Laser + Gauss boats are a strong second tier meta that's only overshadowed by the PPC. Again, it's not really the LL's fault, but it's a great weapon and would absolutely dominate as the "only viable setup" if PPCs bit the dust, outside of dual Gauss.

My personal thoughts on the matter is that the rest of the AC family aren't really that far behind the AC/20, and all can be made similarly good with fairly minor tweaks as soon as PPCs stop overshadowing all of them that function at PPC ranges.

They are vastly behind the AC/20 which, in itself, is only a good weapon when used in pairs and on the handful of 'mechs that can do that. It's lackluster solo.

Again the only reason twin AC/20 boats aren't really used (often) competitively is they are too fragile. The Victor will likely bring them to the top tier.

Why would the LL dominate if the PPC got nerfed?

Because *all* energy weapons lack the biggest part of their balancing factor from TT: Heat.

As long as the heat system generously allows firing 3-4-5-6 large energy weapons at once without penalty, energy weapons will never be balanced.

The *only* way of balancing the energy weapons is to change the heat system (and I don't mean the stupid multi-weapon heat idea they have presented) to not allow the firing of high-heat weapons in such numbers.

Ballistics are balance by weight, crit slots, and ammo.
Missiles are balanced by weight, crit slots, and ammo.
Energy weapons are balanced by... nothing. They *should* be balanced by heat, but they are not.

Yeah, because LL are totally more effective than ac40 or 4x ac5 builds...

BTW, i'm just joking, you're a fool.
