Even better. Fast mech with nothing but tags.

Its objective:
Tag the enemy to death.

If I had another hardpoint, I'd gladly put TAG on it for maximum trollage. As it stands, the flamer is the key to the build (seriously).

On the bright side, I didn't run into you or light pilots like you, so I can't complain too much. My biggest challenge from a light was the Spider duel I had with Mr. Buckton.

Yeah, I ran a 4xMG Cicada earlier this week, just to see if MGs were of any use yet.

(Nup, lots of ratatat, not much damage and no kills.)

Honestly... it's bad, but it's not that bad. I averaged around 250 damage, and beyond damage, I pulled more than my weight. The Cicada is probably pretty useless with machine guns, but a Spider dancing around with jumpjets and a flamer? It drives people ******* crazy. Totally going to write a guide for it.

I've spent the past week pugging and doing just that Bill ;) . Just plain ole' having fun.

First, I decided to run each Jager variant without XLs for a while (and using every hardpoint). This pretty much garuntees lulz builds.

Mad props to the Stalker in river city that I played cat and mouse with for 7 minutes (last 2 standing). He was running a pretty nice mixed LRM/ERPPC +bunch 'o other stuff build. Obviously skilled, and he had upper base defense. I ended up having to do a complete end-a-round after the brawl in upper to even approach him. He played it very smart, and if I wouldn't have killed him...his next shot woulda got me for sure...it was that close. I don't think I've ever gone 7 minutes 1v1 due soley to smart play and not chasing down some fast mover.

I just wish that two-click instant death wasn't running around all over the place. Trying stupid builds is what I live for, but it drives me crazy when I go on a 0-5 losing streak because I can't carry. Maybe when SRMs are back...

Rounds like that are why I play the game. Remember the Awesome shield in River City? That poor Stalker =P

I ran a PPC Stalker, but only aimed for the legs. Does that count for something stupid?

No. That's a game my unit plays called "Leg 'Em and Leave 'Em." Rules: You must leg every enemy before you try to kill them. It makes for some hilarious rounds.

Seriously. It was one of those rounds where I was drawing a ton of enemy fire, three of them were even chasing me out of position, and I was just waiting for the cavalry to arrive. Then I looked at the scoreboard, realized there was no cavalry, and sighed deeply.

The rest of the night went pretty well, though.

I'm trying to level up quickdraws in anticipation of some sort of SRM buff and hopefully a tad better laser balancing for heat vs PPCs. It's been a painful and grim experience. I just can't bring myself to not hate playing PPCs.

At least I take my sub-optimal mech out and do stuff with it.

You brave, brave man. The sooner we get SRMs back, the sooner we can start moving on from this dark, dark time in MWO's history. PPCheese is getting old. Whenever I decide to run my 732 or Stalker, I dominate, but it's no fun anymore. I feel bad for the people I'm shooting, I know what I'm doing takes relatively little skill, and unless they're running an equivalent amount of cheese, they have no chance.

Gotta get my Spiders mastered though, so I'll be refraining from winning for a while =P

I had a few 400+ rounds last night, but it's rare to do when the rest of your team has no clue what's going on. Well done, sir.

I see a couple boys from QQ in there... if MechSaint and MrBlonde weren't on the opposing team, I'm going to have to TK them with my Spider now.

Hahaha I didn't run into any good light pilots either. One of the matches was the 4 of us, (mix of DV8+Kaos+Kaffeangst) + they teamed us with a 4 man group from Paragon. Our opposition was a horde of no-names. Unlucky for them lol. Instead of opening up the game with "glhf" I opened with "gg close. that was over quickly" then we won in 2.5 minutes. That was a big-time Elo fail.

I run into Buckton probably once every few weeks. I think he is the highest Elo dev. I think hes my best chance at getting one of those lil PGI-kill dogtags.

My remember that one time moment has to have been a couple weeks after I started playing, I was piloting my Cicada 2B (think I had LL or something in the arms). I had done fairly well in the match killed a hunchback or something 1v1, then got in a skirmish with a Atlas near theta on river city.

I started shooting up its CT while running around, then it blew off one of my arms (how do you hit an arm on a cicada?) So I kept destroying his CT with my other arms weapons, get him to a nice deep dark red internals, and he blows off my other arm (seriously blow off both arms on a cicada OMG?).

This left me completely weaponless and I see we are losing bad enough I have no chance to pull a capping win so I decide to try to finish him off by ramming I assume there is no chance this will actually succeed of course.)

So I ram full tilt into him with my Kamikaze Cicada and lo and behold I bash straight through his CT making his Atlas fall into a pile of scrap.

We proceeded to lose the match badly, but seriously BEST KILL EVER

Oh and if you want to have more fun make an account you only ever play joke builds on, or do it with a certain weight class like mediums. Then your ELO won't get as high and you won't run into the 6/8 mechs are running PPC boats problem as much.

EDIT: oh and clearly this proves ramming is OP since you can kill an atlas with it using a Cicada

Fair enough...can I get the same info as the people watching the stream though? Or will I have to watch for that? =D

I.e. things observable by a spectator - how many medium lasers, what top speed, etc.

Oh Jesus... those poor PUGs. Reminds me of the night I dropped eight matches in a row against a Luna Wolves syncdrop (I was dropping solo, and my PUGs were... questionable at best with few exceptions). It's not losing that hurts... it's knowing how badly you're about to lose.

I love Buckton and his Spider. We had one hell of a scrappy, on-and-off dogfight that ended with us both cored out, having it out alone in the River City park. My dance was too sexy for him, and the machine guns finally took the day. I sincerely hope I get a rematch with a vengeful Brian.

Hell of a story. Reminds me of the 8-man win I pulled off with a chestbump to prevent an Atlas from getting in the capture box. Still haven't killed anyone by ramming, though =[

Well if I suspect ramming damage is similar to falling, and I tested falling damage. Seems to do 0.1 damage or less for under 20m. For around a 200m fall you can take as much as 0.5 damage to your legs.

So yeah killing someone with ramming is probably about as unlikely as with your last 5 rounds of machine gun ammo. To be honest I doubt even given 20,000 matches I would ever get another one.

STD 225 is my go-to engine for Jagers these days. You can fit a dual-gauss setup, or gauss+2 PPCs on the firebrand. Filling all the hardpopints though... yea, that's silly ;)

While I was in it for lulz, I did have an ojective. I really wanted to see how viable a Jager based on survivability and speed could be. Suprisingly, the 315 std actually provided a noticeable improvement to manueverability over even the 300. I was really hoping for maximum cheese avoidance, and have my normal PPC/Gauss/AC/20 builds for try-hard play. Oddly enough, the Jager with a std is very survivable when speedy, and the side torso shield work very well without the XL. They are severely underpowered, but people just hate...absolutely hate...facing 4xMG+2xAC/2 (or UACs) at close range circle of death fighting. Yes, good pilots..blah blah blah...but for pugging, I think I'm actually keeping one of my builds.

I'm a bit of an odd duck on hardpoints....I consider the 'perfect build' one that is both hardpoint full and crit full. For some reason, free space in a mech just bugs me to death.

If I remember correctly I killed 3-4 of your teammates and they left me with dark red internals where you hit me, pretty sure a few small lasers would have worked too hehe.

Truthfully though I suck bad against lights. I have a cheap laptop and only get 5-13 FPS and if I am turning fast it tends to be <10. Also a fairly small screen makes for a smaller target to aim at. Even with a good rig I doubt I would be a truly top teir player. But handicapped I am only passable. This is also part of the reason I often run LRMs or Streaks, as even if I drop to 5 FPS for a bit I can often deal a bit of damage anyway.

Oh and if you ever spectate and wonder why I almost always am zoomed in, its because I get about 5-10% better FPS. Also using thermal of nightvision drops my FPS by 5-20% so the city maps hurt me bad sometimes.
