I see people all the time attempt to speak for the community. They make broad, sweeping suggestions based on anecdotal evidence or personal preference. They make compelling arguments based on the merit of their sound reasoning for functional changes to the game.
Well, it's been a few days now and we're on page 4 and I have yet to see anyone attempt to make any sort of blanket statement regarding the community's view towards the PPC, balance, or meta at large. People just get focused on little things like convergence or heat or headshots, I dunno why. Fly up a notch get on bird's eye level.
This video shows exactly what the game is like at the top. I don't need to make any sort of compelling argument either way, cuz I will adapt to whatever changes come to MWO as long as they are appealing to me as a player [fun].
Is this fun? Is it balanced? Is it what we desire? Nobody seems to want to answer these questions when I ask them. But I see people run with those same types of questions in their own threads all the time, steeped in agenda. I have no agenda here with this. Consider me a reporter.
So why can't I get an answer? Even one that is biased. I don't mind. I want to see someone have the audacity to speak for the community at large in this very thread, cuz generally speaking people aren't afraid to do that on their own grounds. I know some of you out there feel very strongly about these sorts of things. Give me a compelling argument, either way.

The PPC without the Mech is a little more fragile but almost as deadly. PPC BUG
5 kills, 2 assists, 468 damage (yeah damage is low good players will tell you thats a good thing, almost got 6 kills)
From First kill headshot to an undamaged stalker (33 dmg)
https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink
Second kill took the CT out of a dragon (2 alpha strikes so under 80 damage, someone else splashed damage around on it though).
https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink
Third kill took I think the Right Torso off an Atlas DDC, could not get target due to ECM though (2 alphas think hit same spot hard to say)
https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink
Fourth kill Cataphract (rear CT was open an orange internals, I did this to a cataphract earlier, but at end 2 cataphracts had open rear CT with orange so not sure if this was all my damage hehe. Almost killed the other too but couldn't get a good LOS on it.)
https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink
5th kill Catapult K2, our stalker kept moving between me and it then it killed our stalker so I shot it in the CT.
https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink
and yeah I really need to figure out ho to make it embed images from this site, or find a new site to host them, you would think googles image site would be easy but this site dislikes it. Ok played around some and got it to do one, not sure hat I did though and could not replicate it ah well maybe I will revisit this later and try to fix them all. The links should work anyway.
EDIT: and oh yeah I did edit in a slight bit of the screen from 1 frame before in my videos since its hard to see what was shot at once you overheat. its just a copy paste from under 1 second before the shot was taken.
Oh and before anyone says anything yeah this was an abnormally good game I only got 3+ kills in 5 games and have half the elite skills done by now. and many games I just got destroyed that 1/2 a ton of armor does not really protect much to be honest. And my overall K/D ratio isn't even 1:1

Enormous, resounding no from over here, plain and simple.
The way I see it, there are two types of players - those who play MW:O as every online game, solely to win; and those who play because they want to play the most advanced and well designed version of MW or BT that they've ever seen.
Unfortunately, in the span of time between the last Mechwarrior release, we've seen the massive surge of support for games like Call of Duty, which is precisely where we are now. Your video is extremely reminiscent of any of those CoD Youtube videos I've stumbled across (I do get the point of it, not comparing) - snap, shoot, run. One tactic, one trigger (maybe two), big engine.
The devs will be the final determiner of the direction it goes in, and I really believe the next two months will be our big sign. Personally, I'm holding out hope, but I see PGI going for the money they see coming from the other FPS games. Tactical, paced combat is slow, which most people can't handle nowadays. Sadly, the 'adapt or die' motto most of the meta waveriders adopted will likely be the fate of the game.
PGI will adapt to try and attract as many customers as possible, which leads to a game made for the lowest common denominator. Multiple weapon systems? Maneuvers? Heat control? All these things slow down gameplay and no one, save the BT purists and few patient players out there, are going to want that.

Snipers ruin just about any game, really, but lots of people love playing snipers. The problem is that nobody really enjoys being shot by them.
In this game positioning is no longer much of a thing as it just takes a mech to alpha you dead nearly instantly.
LRMs were a good "sniper" weapon but have fallen out of favor since the PPC serves as a better tool for nearly every situation. LRMs also made a great sniper type weapon because up close and personal, they were now in trouble. With PPCs they are just serving themselves up closer for you.
All it really needs is some decent falloff from either near or far and it'll fall back into 'normal' use.

I don't know about everyone else, but It shows why I want to see them revert the heat on PPCs for a start. It's a sniper rifle that is light enough to be taken in bulk as a general purpose weapon and it just doesn't carry enough downsides to make it a niche weapon anymore. A lot of your shots were made within what I consider brawling range and I understand there are times where people are going to use it at short range, but I don't like the idea of that becoming its primary role (which is what has been happening for the past couple months).

My answer is that no, this is not what I want. Not because the game in its current state doesn't require skill or thinking or positioning. It still does. But this is not the kind of gameplay I pictured when I signed up for Mechwarrior Online. I don't mind if I get killed in 5 seconds if I blunder into the line of the sight of the entire enemy team. But you do realize that your own mech can two-shot itself through the side torso, right? Two exchanges of fire could end a duel.
I'd rather see TTK go up, and fire get staggered, and damage delivered more steadily. If we adopted, say, Homeless Bill's solution to massive pin-point alphas, I'm sure that you would still kick my ***, but at least I'd have the chance to carry out a few more actions, and take a few more shots, before dying.
World of Warcraft had the same problem, with duels ending in 5 seconds. Blizzard fixed that, made players harder to kill, and duels started to last 40 seconds, to almost 1 minute or more. It made it a much better game. Then even if I lost, at least I got to carry out 25 to 30 actions, move / counter-move against a thinking human player, before I died. When you get two-or-three shot, there isn't much fun involved.

Hmmm... Your agenda seems to be wanting to show off your mad skillz youtube videos, getting your friends to repeatedly bump threads with these videos, and justifying the posting of these videos in the middle of this forum as some sort of discussion about game balance.
Listen Soy we get it, you have pretty good aim with da PPCs. Now no more of your youtube video spam on these forums pls. Even if you do use catchy music.
