I will probably keep it with the 2xMG and ERLL build. Either that or one LPL.
I wish they had given it a cap of a 175 engine. It's 1.5 tons more (actually 0.5 because you get to drop a HS), but having the extra HS in the engine would mean 3 more crit spaces, and that would open up one or two more possibilities.

1xERLL 2xMG 170XL
I want the ability to force entrenched enemy mechs to turn around after an ERLL shot to the back or two from long range. The MGs are for backup.
Sadly you will have to run pretty slow if you want a Large Pulse Laser
1xLPL 145XL

Agreed.
The Commando is reasonably scaled for it's weight. I very very much hope the Locust, being five tons lighter still, is miniscule.
Like, cockpit underwater in River City small. Tiny.

Quite like the AC 2 one, was debating that myself with the TAG as you mentioned. Can't wait to try it out

Hopefully it is short/scaled like Jux and book said, and the most maneuverable thing out there... that would make it twenty tons of terrifyingly awesome fun to pilot, instead of just 20 tons of 'terrifying please no one even think of looking at me just got stepped on by my own team's atlas' to pilot.

Otherwise, my build would be the same as Kevin Harxen's. I tried quoting and copy-pasting it in, but the MWO forum seems to be about twenty years behind the curve.

What will be the best builds overall? I know the 1V will be 4 MG and a LL (of some type), but will a light energy boat and streak boat be entirely possible from the other variants?

Not a single one of them will be good. There's a dual AMS/laserboat variant, I think. The tonnage limits it to carrying small lasers, so it won't have any range, but that's the best you can do.
