I currently run a I7 960 with a EVGA 570SC and the game runs just fine. I am thinking of a GPU upgrade and wondering if it would make more sense to buy a top end 680 gpu with the now lower prices or spend about $150 more for the new 780? At the moment I am leaning towards the EVGA 680 classified edition cause i've always been one step behind thee gpu curve. Oh, im also a nvidia guy.

Thanks for any advice.

I have the EVGA 680 Classified and I love it! Crushes MWO on ultra with as many frames as your monitor can put out. It does get toasty, though, so I usually run my 144hz monitor at 80hz to keep it at 80 frames. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 680 classified, however that 780 is bleeding edge stuff.

Also, something funny about the 680 is that some guy on Reddit found you can flash the 770 bios and it turns your 680 into one
http://www.techpower...to-gtx-770.html
This article sums it up that it's just kinda an overclocked 680 with a different name and not exactly a 770, but I find it a funny read.

I heard that the 680 to 770 thing was misinformation. However, since the 770 is cheaper than the 680 at the moment and is faster as well, get the 770.

Of course if you're going to spend the extra money, the 780 is a good bit faster than the 770 and if you use a QHD monitor it's probably worth it.

At $250 the GTX760 looks to be quite nice or you can get an HD7950 for that when they're on sale. They're about the same performance wise so get whichever is cheaper.

I was tempted to go for the 770 since the 570 and 670 seemed to be the sweet spot for performance / price for the last 2 generations of cards. I previously had a 7950GT then the 8800GT and currently the 570SC. Looks like ill probably go for the 680 classified or the 770FTW. Hmmm...

I have a GTX560 SC that I like the performance of so I'm considering upgrading to an FX-8350 CPU instead.

GTX680 is a rip-off when you can get a GTX770 for much cheaper and its faster.....Also look at high end 7950s or 7970ghz.

Everything this guy says is true. Really though, don't dismiss AMD.

My EVGA GTX 770 SC ACX cost $430, and it has a higher core/boost clock and higher mem clock than the 680 classified. Unless you find a 680 for under $400, it is simply not worth it. Get a GTX 770, or get a 7970 Ghz edition. the 7950's are a gamble, since at stock speeds, they're not that great, but if you get one that overclocks well, then they can perform close or better than a GTX 770.

If you are green team solely I say wait for the release this week of the EVGA 770 and 780 signature cards, than pick between the 770 signature or ACX SC version :D (Or go high with the 780)
