I love MWO. It's a fun game. I think I've shown this by spending a lot
of money on it.
Most recently, I bought an Atlas RS with MC because it was on sale last
week. Now I'm looking at the patch notes for July 2nd and there's a Atlas
RS Champion being made available.
That's just bad form. If this was a physical store, I'd be able to take
my Atlas RS back to the dealer and exchange it for the new model or get
some sort of additional price adjustment.
Even if nothing can be done for me monetarily, I still wanted to express
how bad this is from a customer relations stand point. I was trying to
save my MC until some sort of Atlas champion or hero came out.
Unfortunately I was tempted by your sale.
I could sell my Atlas RS for CBills in the worst dollars for CBills
exchange rate ever, and then buy a new Atlas RS Champion. I could also
spend additional money on the Atlas RS Champion and have 4 Atlas in my
garage. Both options seem really stupid.
In the end, I'm sorry for whining but I really feel it's justified. I'm
not disillusioned by Free 2 Play. I've had fun and will continue to have
fun with my Atlas RS purchase. I just wanted to do what I can to
discourage this kind of sales behavior in the future.

The 10% XP bonus is pretty negligible, so its really dumb to get your undies in a twist about paying less for a standard RS. This is just how sales work, they are limited time and they are here and gone. This happens at all stores everywhere, and it gets people to buy things.

To give a real life example, JC Penney introduced a plan to only show the real prices and not have sales of things that were overpriced to begin with. Guess what happened? Sales dropped like a rock. People want sales to feel like they're getting something for less or taking advantage of something thats not going to last forever.

It's still a bad process nonetheless.

Ultimately, you would hope you don't have buyers remorse... it's not that bad that you got a "deep discount" on the regular version, whereas the future Champion version probably won't go on sale for a while (I don't mean that it won't be available in 2 weeks, rather that actual "issue" is that there has not been a discount on Champion mechs to date).

While it is indeed bad form - that is how the biz works. There are those out there that will pony up to buy the Champion version just because they have to have "the best" and the "newest". Be smart. Save you hard won ingame currancy and just buy what you have to have, not what you want. You can live without all that chrome and shinny new mech smell. Master what you already have and then grind for a month. OR, make the Devs happy and spend a "little" real cash to purchase one mecha you really have to have right now. Then that is it - stop. We all have to monitor our funds. DEVs and PLAYERs alike. :)

Does anyone happen to know why the champion Atlas does not show up when I go to the buy mech area?

still kinda a {Richard Cameron} move to do it RIGHT after. It would be one thing maybe if last month the RS was on sale, then a (C) showed up. If I recall they did it with the HBK-4P too.

It's the trial mech at the moment. Usually the release is 2 weeks after its debut in the trial mech section. I think the only exception was the Hunchback-4P Champion release... but otherwise this is more or less the case.
