It's not just you, but it also might be a bug as its random who it effects. Visit the thread in the patch feedback and put up your sound card, relevant settings (5.1 vs stereo etc) and hopefully we can find a common denominator.

Sounds are horrid. Like clanging gongs (AC2) or screetching metal on metal (PPCs) or some sort of wet towel slapping cement (AC20). And horrible, ear piercingly loud even on the lowest setting. I litterally am playing with my sound off... well actually, I would normally be playing but decided to do something else I could enjoy.

GG PGI on the patch. My ears are still ringing hours after I got off.

Yeah for some reason there is a quite a bit of reverb on the sounds... other than that, I'm okay with it, the AC20 sounds like an AC 20 lol.

Don't you realize that the idea was to discourage people from using PPC and AC20 by making them sound horrible? You cannot run a BoomJag now - it's a "wet towel hitting concrete Jag" now...

I'm not sure about the quality of the sounds - some are better, some are worse (more worse than better, I think), but the volume seems completely random. AC5's will sound deafening, an AC20 will sound like a dull thump, etc. No idea what's going on there.

I like them : /
Really not sure they needed an overhaul though, as the sound design was always one of the better aspects to this game.

I like the sounds, but they're a bit loud, especially if you fire more than one in linked fire. Argh.

Better than the old "VWRANG" sound autocannons made, at least. And I like the PPC sounds. Would still prefer the MW3 PPC sounds, but this is good too.

lulz seph are you more confused by the contradiction or me complimenting the devs on something?

if the former, they were good before they're good now, dont rly see the need to change em. Feels like a 'better sound'mod for any other game tbh.

The AC/20 sounds more like a hunting rifle now rather than a large cannon. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they sampled the report from a 30-30 or 30-06.

After further review in Testing Grounds, I seem to have been mistaken about the AC/20; aside from some more echo in the report, I can't tell much difference from before.

The PPC sounds like it's screaming "Yeowwww!!!!" when it fires now, though.

I enjoy the AC20 and PPC shots but the Ac2 shots are a horrible clanking sound. The PPC is too loud though in my opinion. I litterally go deaf firing mine even with the audio at a low setting. So I can see what you're getting at them sounding horrible. I think they just need to change the audio level on the sound and mess with the bass and pitch of the shots. Then if they do that it may sound a bit better.

Sound Design is C-, but like with everything games, it can be improved.

Love the sounds in games like BF3 though. Very awesome.

I'll move this thread to Patch Feedback, as it's related to the patch-specific sound changes.

quad AC/2 is deafening. I can't hear teamspeak or any other sounds when I'm firing the quad.

Relatively, first world problems.

And as this is purely a subjective area PGI can't "fix" it. You can't please everybody.

Personally I love the new sounds.
