Just as an fyi...the number given during the NGNG #79 wasn't actually a playercount number. It was a 'whatif' number PGI randomly pulled out of the air during an explanation of WHY they don't give us a player count. Paraphrased, it was:

"We don't give a playercount because we don't want to have players get discouraged because they only see, say, three thousand players online, and start comparing it to other F2P games."

In reality, that number could be bigger or smaller...

I tend to get discouraged when it fails to find a match because there is nobody playing anymore, for 30 minutes straight. I'd at least like to see if people are on.

1 million.... wow, and how many of those accounts did you create? How many accounts did players make to claim names, or change names? I hardly think the actual number of real people in the 1 million accounts, is even 300,000.

I have 2 of those accounts.... How many do you have?

5-6, something like that. That cadet bonus is hard to pass up when a persistent account is rather pointless in this game unless you plan on paying the absurd amount to actually buy something.

I'm curious, anything that shows you how many people are online yet? It's in every mmo/fps I can think of, another feature for UI 2.0 I guess.

LoL A million people? Well then if we assume 7k people. Then talk about awful player retention and the setup for failure. But Here's to hoping it won't I have alot of money in this game.

Very nice. 3 to 7k concurrent is also pretty good.

Here's to it keeping on growing. With release coming up (and no doubt a marketing push), and a rush for 12v12 and CW, I imagine it will.

UI 2.0 was never a requirement for the counter. It was removed from the current UI in closed beta.

How strange, hopefully they add it back in at some point. Its nice to sorta keep tabs on how popular a game is over time and seeing what sort of crazy bumps there are on holidays and after promotions and loved/hated patches :P

too bad the vast majority of players have left the game. For good reason too! There is a reason why we aren't allowed to see how many people are online now.
