Alpine is a lot more fun post-movement changes. It isn't just about sitting on two big hills and sniping any more.

You can split weapons between components in TT. Nothing in MWO could use it though.

Yawn.

Because there are SO many more noobs on the forum than crybabies. I mean, it's gotten so bad that a crybaby can't ***** about ANYTHING anymore without a flood of new players rushing to the forum to defend the game. It's an American tragedy, that's what it is.

That the approach to it actually takes a bit of thought and not a "omg go lower or upper?!" scenario and meet with the enemy in 30 seconds.....

I don't mind Alpine and would rather play that than RCN frankly.

The one rural map that doesn't force HIllWarrior Online, and you want to remove it? No thanks.

Periodic snowstorms to reduce visibility / necessitate use of short-ranged thermal would give brawlers some viability and allow them to move up on sniper teams. As it is now, snipers win.

not all of us like to sit around hill humping and playing point and click adventures in 170 engine stalkers.

but it's ok we get it. you don't understand anything more complicated than a yes/no question.

i have had great brawls there.
i have had wins where i never saw the enemy.
maybe if base locations were randomized it wouldnt be so predictable.
but i sorta like alpine

I rather like alpine, its a good map that calls for creative meneuvering. I do think it could use some enviornmental effects.

Wind needs to be added, with snow being picked up off the ground and carried with it. Not a white out like Frozen City mind you, just wind blowing snow across the ground some of the open areas. Enough to slightly objscure the toller mechs from the shoulders down. Also snow blowing of the crests of hills.

Add some trees to some of the locations.

Needs a ski lodge. Seriously ski lodge, with lift. Also a hot tub.

The assaulting force could have two spawn locations.

ANY SKII LIFTS MUST BE FULLY FUNCTIONAL! they should be capable of carrying light mechs across the map. it would make the map like a shooting gallery!

With the 12 .vs. 12 Apline will become much nicer and people will be screaming for bigger maps.

No, its a good map.

If you get "out-capped" you should better organize. The map is even better with the Hillclimbing fix.

It's a satisfactory map if PGI ensures each side has the same number of fast mechs. If one side has no fast mechs and the other has a couple, one member of the "slow" team has to sit on base to guard it while the rest of his team gets to fight. I had that experience last night. It isn't fun.

There's also very little cover from LRMs, so only one enemy needs to spot you in order for multiple enemies to successfully attack. One AMS doesn't do much against LRM30+...

Even more contradictorily, the current complaint about the 12 v 12 test server is that all the maps are too small for 12 v 12. People aren't happy no matter what you do.

Diane here is completely correct if the other team gets to the tower first they win. So basically the only way to win is back cap and make the game no fun. If you find that fun then you don't really know Mechwarrior and BattleTech

If you can't defend your base from the tower, why are you camping it? Yes, it's a powerful position, but its in a tactically useless place.

Why are you blaming the enemy for choosing to not charge into a guaranteed loss?

A more stable way to play Alpine would involve scouting out the enemy's movement before commiting your slow assaults in one direction or another.

I don't like base-trades, but the caps are necessary to keep mobility an important aspect of the game. You can't pretend that the caps don't exist. So, I guess that means you need to figure out a place to stand that allows you to block your opponent's charge towards your base
