The slope adjustment is a good thing. I just feel it needs one minor tweak.

As it is now any slope over 45 degrees stops a mech. Even if the slope is on a pipe or small rock.

We are in bipedal walking mechs, not tanks rolling along the ground. Any object under 1 meter high should be completely ignored, since your mech could simply step over it.

I like that we can't walk up steep slopes anymore, and it makes you have to think about the terrain and plan your path wisely. The fact that a mech can't even walk over a speed bump right now is ridiculous and the only thing I feel they need to change.

This IS NOT a argument to remove slope!

It is a poll to remove it until there is a fix. It is ruining a game people are paying for and alienating the player base.

This should be a simple hotfix patch and then they can put it back in the next patch with the adjusted code. There ARE supposed to be test servers for this.

Imagine If you were playing this for the first time? Would you come back? I know I wouldn't if I didn't know how great the game was before this screwed up patch. Also I am not advocating removing the entire patch just hot fix removing the slope adjustment until it is not a game breaker.

And If you think it's not a game breaker than you don't use terrain to your advantage. And this is coming from a assault driver. I pity the lights.

i had loads of fun with my jenner when i played. i have thoroughly integrated my jump jets into my movement, but i think i would have still noticed any major problems. rocks and different things did slow me down some but i don't think i was ever forced to drop below 100kph.

Well there is that at least, funny I've read an entire thread of posts stating their lights hit a rock and just stop in the middle of a brawl. Pebbles of steel I think the devs named the thread. ;)

If I'd just be able to move my foot over that pebble on the ground...damn. That thing must be as big as a football, no wonder my Atlas stops when I run against it.

Seriously, I think they overdid it with this movement adjustment. There are just so many small obstacles you don't even notice, but your mech suddenly stops and you have to make a 90° turn to walk around something you can't even see on the ground.
And then there are rocks like on the slope of the upper starting point on Forest Colony where you would think a light mech moving over it would have to stumble every 2 steps, but nothing happens.

Btw when you slow down when going uphill, you should also speed up when moving downhill.

So far I have really liked the change. However it does need adjusting. There are 45 degree "slopes" that are 2m tall and stop my mech dead. for example the spawn point in the river on canyons. The bank of the river stops my mech from moving over a 2m step. Also in river city, My mech regardless of the size, gets stopped cold when I run into walls that do not even reach my mechs knee. This needs to be addressed.

Sorry but I have to vote NO for removal of the system. The system needs adjustment, other wise it is working quite well.

They didn't overdo this. It is a beta test and we're the rats. They haven't finished the terrain fix, more finetuning will come. Those titan steel pebbles will be fixed....but only, if people like you stop complaining about them and start reporting them, with screenshot and map coordinates, so the fixer team can get to work.

Btw. we are not steering cars, but bipedal 'Mechs. So, no, there will be no speed increase by walking down a slope.

I think it should remain, but change from 0% to something like 20% throttle when >45 degrees. This would make it still slow to go up hills, but not hard stop you and cause you to slide back down (mechs shouldnt be sliding like that anyway)

Just think of it as your mech stubbing it's toe.

No matter how fast you are moving if you suddenly stub your toe on a big rock you'll come to a halt pretty quick :P.
