Agreed. How could any self respecting gamer like Apple or Linux over MS?

OSX is better for resource management, handles files more efficiently, and has more stable and commonly used drivers. It also has a generally better interface for most uses, but that point is contentious and most people who don't use both operating systems constantly tend to just prefer the one they use the most. Apples problem with games is that its a minor player in the market that isn't really worth developing for specifically because of that fact. Linux is a mess and not worth considering at all unless you're a developer.

I think you have creepy mirror eyes that see the opposite of reality.

You are completely correct. That is an informed and well written statement.

....what is it doing here?

It got lost.

true, but I liked how Chris Roberts handle the mess-up during the 24 hours stream. He was actually pissed that the sale went up too early and he seemed to really care about delivering what was promised. Also, did you look at him demonstrate the Constellation? He really seems passionate about what he's doing and that's a pretty big plus for me.

The people who are giving thousands of dollars and all of their mindshare to a game by a developer who hasn't made a game in a decade and never a modern one, and whose game isn't even coming out for two years are idiots. Especially after this game crashed and burned so hard after its own super promising design doc full of lies got them 10 mil.

LOLZ compared to a company that has come out with a Fishing game and a HL mod? Chris left the industry because he was sick of developers, and now he's back without one. He's released countless of space blockbuster games. Thats a track record.

I like PGI but unfortunately they have IGP telling them what to do and what to release.

He's released a few good space based games with a far smaller scope, without a rags to riches dependency on unstable crowd funding preventing him from knowing the actual scope his game can attain, and he did it 10 or more years ago. Before smart phones. Before facebook. Before modern MMOs. Before social integration, the mass upscaling of free to play games, and before the space-sim genre burned out.

He's had a nice track record, but that doesn't translate to what he's trying to do and he's been out of the game for a long time.

You are a waste of air and digital print--as is anyone who worships/likes/prefers Apple.

Given how amazingly ill informed you are about their products, ecosystems, and technologies I'm amazed you're even spelling the name right. I'm also impressed you managed Microsoft given that you also clearly don't know anything about their services or platforms. I bet you the website you're replying to me on was coded on either a Macbook Pro or an iMac. You see things from a different angle when you're actually in a design industry and/or know anything about the modern tech industry. You should just accept what your betters tell you.

Oh, and I'm using a windows 7 laptop.

Freelancer came out a decade ago and would be considered an unfinished AAA product today. It's scope is far smaller than what they're promising now, had a stable financial base for development, didn't have microtransaction content or an endlessly updated content stream, and was primarily a singleplayer game which, while great for multiplayer, was hardly a consistent openworld game with a lot of longevity.

Your fanboi obsession is overriding any sense of logic. The things that make star citizen notable are the exact thing Chris Roberts has no experience with as a designer.

Experience has shown me that trying to argue any point with someone who worships a product platform, no matter what brand it is, is a complete waste of time. I stand by my original point:

Reputation is opinion.

Thankfully I worship none. I'm quite versed in not only Microsoft's offerings, but also (first hand) have in-depth experience in Linux (various flavors), Unix (various flavors), BSD (various flavors), AIX and more--and not just the user level but from the development level.

A computing platform is a tool, nothing more. Worshiping any of them is a pointless waste of time.

Argue your point? Your point was literally nothing but lies about both Windows and Mac platforms. Seriously, you straight up lied. You know what isn't opinion? Facts. You know what your post was primarily composed of? Lies. You know what you've spent 0 time backing up? Your lies.

So get out of the ivory tower, you built it wrong.

I would believe you if you didn't hugely misrepresent both Apples and Microsofts platform. As it is I don't believe you beyond possibly believing that you're some sort of associates degree IT assistant or 15 year old script kiddy.

Apparently so is constructing well thought out and formulated opinions concerning those platforms. Fortunately you have lies and hyperbole, which make a balanced breakfast.

can we have this thread shutdown before any more arguments arise from what OS people use. the original post was about the release date of this brilliant game not about who's OS phallus is bigger. I for one hope that the game is where PGI are happy with it 13th September. all the best to them.

They've been happy with the game consistently for the past year. I hope the game where where reviewers are happy with it, I could care less what PGI is happy about, they have low standards.

They seem to operate under "radio silence before big announcement" these days, so who knows, maybe the fact they aren't saying anything is good news.

Still, 4-5 patches to put in even a portion of the remaining features.... Not gonna happen.

Do you know Chris Roberts on a personal level? If not, then how about practicing what you preach.

Just because someone wasn't actively developing games does not mean they are out of the loop on latest practices, technologies, and techniques.

LOL. MS has pretty much denounced PC gaming. Have you tried Games for Windows? All they care about is Xbox. Windows 8 is terribad. At least Apple is adding more support for pc gaming.

As I'm sitting here on my Windows PC, I'm wondering what other OS you could mean that is for gaming?

If we get fully-featured Community Warfare, then I'm all for it.
Bonus points for:
  • better SRMs
  • flamers & MGs being awesome in the right circumstances (this plus SRMs makes Lights and Mediums much more viable). Flamers should be terrifying to high heat alpha PPC builds.
  • collisions, knockdowns, DFA.

Yeah, my rudder and throttle work now but without the proportional control for the torso the main stick is better left as a mouse right now.
