Despite seeing LRMs all over the place I only recently noticed (or remembered) that LRMs with Artemis are used to fly in a helix movement...but not anymore.

I guess this is out for a long time already. Anybody know why? Balancing reasons? Had it something to do with the super-arcing flightpath? I really liked it, even when most of the time LRMs are flying towards me, not from me. :D

I miss it too. PGI probably removed it because it was hitting the center torso way too much.

This happens within 480m on a TAGGED target.

Try this out. Go to testing grounds, slap on a tag and a couple LRMS, get within 480m, tag and fire, and watch the glorious swirly swarm of death :3

It was cool. Probably balancing reasons. Though i didn't see a problem with it .Maybe technical reasons.

They did implement a new smart curve for LRMs. maybe it was incompatible with spiral unless recoded.

Right now LRMs look like they are flying on rails. Maybe the helix flight will come back with DX11

True, it looks pretty much...impossible currently. All fly in a straight formation...yes, like on rails. They could at least swirl around a bit during flight, like in the closed beta. ^^
