Started reading Warrior: En Garde based on advice in this thread. Great so far. Lots of mechs in MWO are in this book and bought a smile to my face; Jenner, Cicada, Awesome, Centurion, Dragon...

I've always liked the Warrior Trilogy by Mike Stackpole. I always wished that FASA would have published more Succession Wars Novels.

It's a awesome trilogy, it was also the first story that featured Solaris IIRC.

I'm not really sure if this fits here, but what would you say are the highlights of BattleTech fiction?

I've been looking into getting into BT literature for awhile, but I'm mostly just interested in the general warfare and mech-related aspects of BattleTech, e.g. I don't really give a hoot about any of the in-game factions or political intrigue.

Is there anything good along those lines?

Michael Stackpole wrote the best Battletech stuff IMO. I would start with Lethal Heritage. That was the first appearance of Elementals and a lot of the writing got more technical after that.

I would say the Jade Falcon novels were the most interesting IMO. I wish they'd done more with Joanna (slayer of Natasha Kerensky). When I think of Battletech characters I've read about, she is at the top of the list as the most interesting.

This game has gotten me re-reading many of my old BT novels; the books about the Black Thorns, Main Event and D.R.T. are great. Reading Double Blind right now. Star Lord is great, as are the two Wolf's Dragoons novels, Wolves on the Border and Wolf Pack.

Actually, I think I just like reading about mercenary companies =D

"Wolves on the Border" was my favorite but the others are very good too.

From a literary perspective, Wolves on the Border is the best written out of all the CBT novels.
