copy ( jenner ), paste ( new locust ), well done creative designers.

Really? You think? Have you looked at them side-by-side? They really are quite different:

(And no, I don't think they are to scale).

Locust? You sure?
Spoiler

The PGI Locust look like a Flea/Locust IIC/GrandJenner/Jenner III/Jenner IVC/ [you_name_for_this_mech_here]....

We need REAL Locust, Mr. Alex (but i really like Shadow Hawk from PGI Phoenix Project)

Well we can't have it.

Its likeness is defended by a pack of rabid commando-trained attack lawyers who would love nothing better than to make a few million dollars for their masters.

Also, it has no waist.

How about the one Alex made already? You know, the one in the first post of this thread?

That's what we're getting, so better get used to it. It looks way better than any other design I've seen.

(Disclaimer: I'd love to have the original Locust, but since we can't, I'd rather have the one Alex made than any of the other abominations).

Greetings MechWarriors!
This was going to be a screenshot post, but we've had a ton of requests for the new Phoenix Mechs images, and so while this isn't a screenshot, we hope you'll still enjoy it. We will add the others as they're ready, but for now, here's your Locust!
Thanks for all your requests everyone, and we hope you like the art! We can't wait to see what inventive paintjobs you guys draw over it!

Gods no, the Project Phoenix TRO Locust was a terrible redesign (though I did like the Battlemaster concept to a degree, which Alex seems to have borrowed from and improved.) I would much rather have Alex's version over the TRO version any single day of the week. In facts I say, let Alex (and Shimmering Sword) redo the entire PP TRO book as the Battlemaster was the only one that I thought was even close to worthy of seeing the light of day.

You know, I really hate to belittle good artwork. Cause this is good, but I've got issues with it. The problem I'm having with this take on the appearance for a Locust, is it didn't make me go "O HEY! It's a Locust!". Instead, it made me go "O HEY! It's a Jenner II-C!". I know the Phoenix Locust can't look like a Locust (or at least can't look enough like one that Harmony Gold, or whoever owns them takes notice), but c'mon... you had to have better idears than just robbing the lines from a Jenny II-C and calling it a Locust. Just because liquid is dripping on me and I'm getting wet, don't mean It's raining.

This! Please make it look more like a real Locust!

at 20 tons I hope the locust is only chest high to the commando on live.

If it's not that size the mech is going to be completely tactically un-viable, Not to mention mechs like this are usually meant to go around 160 kph (which won't be possible with the current state of the game).

For a better comparison (in my opinion) the top of this mech should just barely touch the chin of the jenner in height and be about 1/3 - 1/2 slimmer than the jenner. The only thing a 20-25 ton mech has going for it is: size and speed. If it doesn't have both it's worthless.

No go. You know the rules on the unseen, and the reseen variation is... fugly, to say the least. The type of fugly you DON'T want for a mech. Besides, they may not have the coding in CryEngine yet for legs to be on the side torsos. I actually like this spin on my beloved. Hell, it might even get some torso twist, one of the drawbacks of the Locust's design, which you may notice in the picture. I'm excited to see it in action.

I'm all for the Locust and the bug squad.

Locust, Flea, Spider, Cicada. Best hope we don't get picked off by a conspiracy of Ravens!

Surely you mean "an unkindness of ravens", my good fellow?

There's apparently a load of different terms for it! Including Parliament/Congress and Constable for the ravens at London Tower. With all the conspiracies going on in the announcement forum, I thought that was fitting..... After re-reading it, it sounds stupid :D

Yeah, I don't see a resemblance between the Jenner and the Locust.

The Locust and the Flea, however...

Funnily enough, I prepared this one at the same time as the comparison I did above:

Again, I don't think they are to scale. That would be insanity.

Right. The Flea and the Locust are likely the same size. They both have similarly shaped cockpits, the difference being that the Locust's is more forward and has a flatter slope. I remember when the Flea concept art was released saying that it looked close enough to the Locust and that they should just call it the Locust and be done with it. With that being said, I like this Locust art better than the Flea, but I still think it's pretty close.

EDIT: the off-canter chin-turret works fine enough for me, but I wonder if they had thought of getting rid of the laser turret concept entirely and use a dorsal-mounted CT Laser instead, like the Victor Musical Industries Locust IIC:

Let hope it makes an appearance soon. Different Geometry/ skeletons would be an ultimate enhancement for the game variety.

I really like the look of the feet and legs on it. It looks like it was made to run.
