you get 3 seperate model mechs built on the same chassis to unlock some pilot skills...my question, do the skills go with pilot to other weights or models with the pilot or just works for model that you got it on ?
i checked beginner guide...must have missed it

No. They only go towards the variants you earned them on. (They still apply even if you sell and rebuy them.) See below.

The "Mech Trees" tab shows skills you gain by leveling up certain mechs and their variants. The "Pilot Trees" tab shows skills "modules" you can unlock with GXP you either earn or convert from mech XP. The Mech skills are only for the specific mech you earned them in. The Pilot skills are yours across any mech you pilot.
