Do you get the same amount of C-bills as you would if you had destroyed the arm first, then the side torso?
I know you get both of the "component destroyed" rewards...
Also, when you trigger an ammo explosion, you can often get credit for a ton of damage, which presumably means you're getting credit for having destroyed all the armor in blown off limbs, etc....

When killing off a Side Torso you get 2 Component Destructions.
So if you really want that money and EXP you destroy both side Torsi and one Leg before actually killing the mech itself.

Unless you get that bug where the torso goes and the arm stays...

Yeah, I mean.. if I slowly melt off the armor on the arms and then destroy them, AND THEN do the same to the side torsos, would I get more money than If I just took out the side torsos, since in the former case I'd be doing damage to the armor plating on the arms and thus getting more c-bills?

I think you get the most cash overall by having a substantial salvage bonus. Meaning the more the mech survives, the heftier the take home. Legging and Cockpitting a mech results in a larger bonus than gutting out the CT.
Of course, given the high alpha meta right now, I can't remember the last time I legged somebody instead of just trying to blow out an XL.

You are probably right (I dont have the number), but you would get less XP that way. So if you are still leveling a mech, component sonus is where it's at.

I think it balances out, you get more damage earnings but less salvage earnings, IIRC Salvage is for remaining components, but I could be wrong.

I know blowing off legs gets the most.
