Devs also said they want to do some city map.
The maps won't be randomly generated, I think.

As for start ... I think the previous post suggesting 6 ...would be about right. (pure speculation though)

Planets would also have different wildlife (in a realistic sense) which a genesis could control too, be great to blast some alien bunny rabbits right? See birds fly out of the trees past your mech as you whomp whomp whomp all over the forst. More important is terrain and buildings. To land on a planet in territory battles on a fresh new map each time, would create the need for fresh tactics too.
I so hope that is the case or there is at least 5 maps per planet.
If we find ourselves fighting on the same ground every day, that will get boring. We would soon see certain high grounds, buildings, rivers becoming common advantages/disadvantages in a fight. To predict such stuff just won't feel like we're fighting over a planet.
Unless canon states all battles take place on the North Pole of every planet

Are you guys talking about environments or maps I don't know.
Better not just have 6, seriously, could it have just 6 to start with? naa

I agree with what you are saying but if we were to have several maps per planet that'd be hundreds if not of thousands of maps! Sarna alone lists 3000+ planets! (though I accept that 90% of the would never need a map, IE terra).

I think this sounds about right, but my money is on 8, nice round number. This theory is based on the amount of resources that would be required. Also random maps is almost an impossibility, even if you forget the processing power needed, the server would have to gen the map, then send it to all users, then it would have to load and render to all users, once all that was done there are great possibilities the maps would be very glitchy. So random maps out. 8 seems like a good round number of tested well rounded and varied maps to start with.

Then there is the ruined city covered in snow that AceTimberwolf recorded when he was at E3.

Some hardcore fans might have an objection to this, but I think it would be pretty cool to see in the long run.
