With the new BattleMech movement behavior being added to the game, it's the perfect time for developers to consider adding an inclinometer to the HUD. Basically, the inclinometer will measure the angle of inclination or slope of the current terrain. The range will be from 0 to 45 degrees, which no ‘Mech can traverse. The indicator will also highlight the Showdown Angle for that particular BattleMech, so players don’t have to memorize Archetypes. Terrain now plays a significant role in MWO, so a HUD element that shows pertinent terrain information is justified. This will benefit new players and veterans alike. Thoughts/Comments?

The inclinometer could look something like this...

No one would want this? What if it was just a digital readout?

Interesting, there is a LOT of unused real estate in those cockpits.

And please add a seismic meter for seismic module, instead of blips on the radar.

Minus the I-Phone. Basically in the hud or in the cockpit, showing a steady line that starts to show osculation when something is nearby. So then when you see it, you think "Hmm, Mech Steps are detected, but where could they be?"

All for it. Preferably placed in one of those " no signal" screens in the cockpit. But even just on the hud would be nice.

I don't see how this would be useful at all.

Given that it'd only be showing you the incline of the terrain you are currently standing on.. how is that useful? The incline is already affecting your speed at that point.

Why shouldn't it be useful to know what terrain you are standing on, without having to look down? Ah...okay, you must be such a pro, that you can guess it from simply knowing the speed of your 'Mech.

i thought they could put a color indicator blue or something around the rectangle where damage hits are shown to indicate impassable incline like proximity sensors.

I'd like to see this added as a vision mode (like thermal). the ground gets turned into a grid, with colour codes indicating speed penalties (such as any incline greater than 45 is red, anything in your optimal range is green and anything sub-optimal is in shades of yellow / orange).
