It may not be the Wolverine, but at least it's a fast 55ton jumping medium.

So I'll go w/ the Thud.

Battlemaster is my first choice, but the Shadow Hawk looks very solid.
Seriously, though, I think the Shadow Hawk will add the most to the game, a fast jumping 55t medium. More jumpy speedy mediums is always good. The Battlemaster is just pure awesomesauce, adding a nice competitor in lighter-assault range as the Awesome... isn't. It'll sit nicely with the Stalker, which is of comparable tonnage but a vastly different mech.
Locusts are cool and all, but I'm dubious it'll actually be... well, useful.
I have nothing against the Thunderbolt, and will happily use it - it looks pretty cool, and I really dig that off-center cockpit - but the Shadow Hawk and Battlemaster are what really push my buttons.
This is kind of odd, too, because I'm if anything a Heavy pilot.

I just hope that those people remember the reason to like the SHD is that it is iconic, not because they expect it to be a great preforming mech otherwise we will have to build an arc on the forums to save us from the flood of tears on Oct 15th.
That being said, the SHD will probably be the first of the four I will load out and run out with just because I am really curious if my predictions of it mostly sucking will be true or not hehe.
My personal favorite is the T-bolt because I think it will be the sleeper hit and exceed most people expectations of it. The Battlemaster is obviously going to be a successful design just based on the loadout options, speed option and heavy armor. While everyone knows the locust will be a joke, although prehaps a truly fun one.

The Thunderbolt also looks good. The idea of a mixed-loadout heavy is why I was so pumped about the Orion. Plus, it looks much sexier than the Orion and matches the Atlas D for hardpoints. What's not to love?

The locust has possibilities? I've been playing with various builds in the Oosik's mechlab ( http://theoosiks.com/mechlab# ), but I can't find anything that really looks even remotely promising.
Depends if they cap engine size to limit speed or not.

Alex explained that. They can't "do it right" because they don't own the artwork. They could NOT mirror the original artwork too closely because it creates legal issues and would be grossly irresponsible. They have rights to the concept of the mechs, the loadouts etc, but not the original imagery.

.... sigh. I wish.

Lacking that, I've always had a soft spot for the good old shadow hawk. I'm not especially confident that it'll be all that great of a mech in MWO considering that it's got ballistic slots but doesn't seem to have the XL-friendly torso shape it'd need to effectively use them, but I'll still buy and pilot the heck out of em. Medium mechs for life - or, until they add the marauder, anyway!

I have to agree on the Marauder. If it every got added I would pilot one, even if it ended up sucking just because I think it is absolutely, hands down the best looking mech to come out of the Inner Sphere in the 3025/3050 time frame. Marauder II would be the other one I would love to see.....100 tons of Marauder fury...with JJs.
But doubt we will ever see them.

I didn't vote for the Battlemaster, but I'm almost as excited for it. It was my first miniature I ever bought out of a bits box at a sci-fi convention when I was 10 or 11 and didn't even know what Battletech was until a couple of years later. I enjoyed piloting one in MW2 with the cheat code to unlock it and I feel like this game will reunite me with an old friend.
But I still feel like the Shadow Hawk fills a role that was lacking in the game. That is; a maneuverable, classic, 3025 mech that's equally bad at all ranges.

I think if there were 1v1 matches in this game a mech like it would be desirable so you have a little something for everything. As it is, it'll get modded and made cookie cutter by whatever the week's meta is.
