Although I don't really see it coming that way I would love it.

In response, people flock to TS to co-ordinate like never before. Old, min/max builds are obsoleted, and replaced with more viable and tactically-flexible builds.

Wait.. so garbage tier frankenmechs are going to be the saviors of the IS from the clans?

Tell me more about how that works.

You mean stock variants?

Personally, I think the [however many Gauss + PPC] mechs are the frankenmechs around here. If I wanted to play Call of BattleSide 3000, I would go play it instead of something with "MechWarrior" in the title.

Yes, generally all stock variants are terrible.

Actually, they're made terrible by MWO's heat mechanics. They really weren't all terrible from the start.

For instance, the Awesome is a mech supposed to volley its PPCs 3-3-2 per round. That way, the TT rules say its heat is back to zero after the third round.

Of course, the fact 3 PPC bolts in MWO will always hit the same component - unlike in the TT - would make that ability unbalanced, if not to say overpowered, so heat dissipation, buildup and weapon firing rate were tweaked.

This made any stock TT loadouts that were workable or even outright well-rounded terrible to play with, not to mention the ones that weren't any good to begin with.

That said, balancing efforts aren't finished by far, and clantech will blow the whole thing open once more as soon as it's introduced to the game.

No while it would be nice that is not how it will happen.

Day 0: PGI announces the Clan mech package. It will include a Kit Fox, Stormcrow, Summoner and Direwolf, 120 days of premium, Clan loyalty point badges, etc. It will cost $200 (because of how popular the clans are) and they will be release to the purchasers of the pack 3 months early.

Day 90: Timeline restarts at the begining of the second clan invasion. Clan pack purchasers swarm in with their clan mechs only to find out that they don't dominate the meta like they expected mostly due to the fact that Clan tech can also be purchased and mounted on Inner Sphere mechs (supported in lore). Forums explode.

Day 120: Everyone else starts playing clan mechs and game moves on as normal.

I kind of doubt something like this will be exactly the way it happens, but I do think the idea of creating a dynamic Clan invasion in the game would be incredibly awesome.

While somewhat unfortunate, Victor Drake's scenario is probably the most likely.

The vast majority, especially pre-Helm Memory Core models, are. There are good stock designs, they tend to be later issue designs and are noticeably superior. The Warhawk/Masakari comes to mind. The AS7-K and to a lesser extent -D get close. Basically, highly synergised weapon loadouts (like boats) and good capability to fire at peak effectiveness.

Yeah Clan Tech is going to make all our balancing/boating issues completely obsolete lol. Can't wait till clan UAC's and clan DHS hit the market but I can totally wait for all the new issues that will arise because of those new and devastating weapons systems and the concurrent QQing that will come with them ...

It's how we roll, here in the IS-hood.
