Playing this game since July 2012 in closed beta I have experienced the various incarnations and attempts made to balance out the reward system for c-bills and xp.

The current system has so many rules and specific action based rewards and yet fails to really reward properly the actions that allow for a team to work together and ultimately triumph. From the scouts who never fire a shot but create distraction and disruption to the player who moves in and sacrifices himself to create that opening for his team to complete a flanking move.

I would propose that the developers take a serious look at a team based reward system. All c-bills and XP earned by each player are pooled and at the end of the match distributed to each player as a straight up pro-rated split. The beauty here is that you can even have it so that there is individual recognition by having say the first 25% of rewards given to the player and the reminder into the general pool.

This will allow for selfless players to be rewarded for their contributions and would encourage a much greater depth of team play and bonding between players.

A further note, the numbers being used are for illustrative purposes. As there would be many ways to vary the individual vs pool rewards.

Also, there was a post that this was like communism, but I would point out that this is a team based game and right now the reward system is reflective of team based play and rewards.

it would be nice to have those things be rewarded, but most of that is very hard to measure in game.

Exactly, those hard to measure things are what would be covered by having a team based pool for rewards. PGI would not have to figure out how to measure intagibles, it would all be sorted out and rewarded at an organic level.

Yeah, there's lots of ways to help the team and right now pretty much all the rewards are for raw damage output and number of kills. Getting 100XP in a match for spotting seems pretty dinky compared to getting 1500+XP for pounding the alpha-strike key.

Hmmm, you keep the top 25% and rest of goes to a cbill pool for winning? Very interesting. It would cut back on tards that refuse to assist, while rewarding the unsung heroes. Best idea I've heard in awhile.

Yeah this is an awesome idea.

Especially for 8 man drops.

Thanks for all your feedback, maybe let your buddies know and if they vote then perhaps PGI will take this into serious consideration.

I approve of this. There's WAY too much emphasis on "who can get the most kills" — mainly because it reaps the most rewards.

It would be nice to actually get rewarded for helping the team out in less obvious, but just as crucial ways.

Exactly where I was going with this, thanks Bhael Fire.

Keep the comments coming so we can keep this at the top of the forum list.

ok now that i have taken time to reread it, i think i understand.

i don't agree with the numbers being thrown around, but i do like the basic concept. for a while now me and my friends have been trying to find a reasonable way to reward assault mech pilots for getting into the fight and taking hits for weaker mechs.

Because the Matchmaker keeps teaming me with noobs (it wants me to lose 50% of the time) this idea would mostly reduce my CBills and make grinding even harder for me. That doesn't seem very fair.

Yup, a shared equal reward to the team would be better.

Right now playing most light chassis is less than rewarding.

Welcome to communisum! Where you don't have to work to get reward! I want what I earn to be mine, not someone else's.

I think you miss the point Daeonwolf, when the lights are base capping or disrupting in the back end to take pressure of the Assualts, I am assuming that would be you, so they can have a higher probability of success there is currently minimal or no reward for this.

I note that you are currently a recruit, play some more and I think you will start to understand where I am going with this.

Thanks for your feedback and participation.

The numbers are for illustration, for example it could be 75% to the player and 25% to the pool, you could pool strictly for kills and assists and not for spotting, capping, and so on.
