I heard that it was a trend from when Ravens had borked hit boxes... but it seems that, compared to the rest of the light mechs, the Raven die more to being legged than anything.

With the spider and Jenner, I get cored most of the time.. but I'd estimate that ~90% of the deaths I have with the Raven comes from being legged.

Completely observational and in no way backed up with hard evidence(as that sort of thing isn't tracked)..

That's because everyone has learned to aim for the legs.

Really brought back memories of MW3

Almost every time I pull the tarp off my Raven and take it for a spin, I get legged. My entire body / arms are barely yellow, but my legs get shredded. I hardly use it anymore because the legs seem to macigally attract damage...

raven a bit big compared to the jenner for 35tons to be honest. plus its leg to torso ratio was a bit high in the first place.

They are, but his torsoes are still impossible to hit so its a fair trade.

Thats because the Jenner is a walking CT, and the raven is a walking leg

If the majority of the deaths comes from a non main body region, it should say something about the hitbox and design of the mech.

just like how the cockpit of the catapult is too easy to target, it just feels like the legs of the raven is too easy to target. It is almost to the point that I can't join into a main battle in any capacity as a raven Pilot.

I find the legs on all the light's easy to hit really and it only makes sense to slow the little buggers down so you can finish them off or leave them to your teammates to deal with them so you can prioritize other targets. That and people have a lot of time to learn a slow light is a dead light.

Raven's legs are larger than the Spider and Commando by sq inch, and they travel longer distances in a run. If you were to not even try to aim and just fire a laser just in front of a Raven running and let him run through it at least one leg would travel through the beam twice as it swings far forward and then far back.

As someone said, Raven's are just legs. Half the mech is leg structure.

And that's because their side torsos actually absorb some damage while still being hard to aim at, compared to Jenner and Cicada which are giant CTs on legs, so they just get cored.

Honestly, after thinking about it... lights in general are too easy to leg since lag shield was fixed. If it isn't direct fire on the raven, it is the 'miss' from LRM rains that strip armor off the rest of the mechs when they 'miss' at full speed.

If they want Light mechs to be overall viable without the lag shield, they need to do something to increase the surviveability.. whether it is by reducing the size of the raven leg hit box or reducing the amount of damage done by missed LRM's on light mech legs.

Mobility is the key to the surviveability of the light mech and it just feels entirely too easy to deny light mechs that mobility compared to.. say, armor for the assault and heavy mechs.

i guess none of you have read the patch notes.

They increased the size of the raven leg hitboxes to be larger than the model of the legs. This was back before HSR was implemented because raven legs never got touched before HSR. Then when they implemented HSR they never changed the raven leg hitboxes back to the size of the model. This means that raven legs are easier to hit than any other light mechs legs because you dont actually have to hit them to hit them.

They said they would fix this after HSR and they havent.

So, yes, ravens get legged more than other lights.

I took a break before HSR(or the Raven leg hit box change) was implemented so there is a bit that I've missed.
