Yeah, I think if lowering the hit points on gauss solved gauss dominance, lowering hit points on PPC would make them much less reliable brawler weapons.

The thing that ended the Gauss dominance was introduction of DHS.

I'm pretty sure the reason why gauss stopped being the fotm is because they made them super fragile.

My sentiments exactly.. no reason to do it.. but to watch Highlanders, Stalkers, and Cataphracts cry.. lol

It doesn't have to be just for PPCs. Continuous very high damage alpha could have a progressively worse chain of events if you don't let yourself cool down like it does in TT and Mechwarrior tactics.

Eh, still think 10 heat for 10 damage and 15 heat for 10 damage would solve the PPC meta.

Seriously though, not only are you going to heat up the circuit closing element, you're probably also going to cause arcing, assuming you exceed the arc potential of whatever air is inside the PPC, which can melt other things, start fires, etc.

Yes and no - you will definitely cause an arc (at some point the slug that shorts the circuit would get close enough to the wires to allow for that, but it won't be quite touching the wires yet), but arc melts whatever conductor(s) create it (see arc welding for example). So, it's not very likely to set something else on fire.

It's not a stretch to say that closing a massive capacitor powered by a fusion engine is a Bad Idea.

Certainly, but it doesn't really cause en explosion - I'd worry about EM pulse more in that situation.
