Orion is going to be LESS maneuverable, on the whole. Same basic performance profile, minus the JJs, and only 5 tons lighter, so handling characteristics are likely to be minor improvements, at best.

Otherwise, hardpoint wise, they are remarkably similar.

Ahh...but your missing the point, the Orion pops in as a heavy, not an assault so that changes group dynamics

Well.. if you think about it, this sale is available to Paying Customers, only.

Right. What I suggested was to make the c-bill purchase also available to other customers who are committed to paying money already in other ways.

The Premium time bonuses are nice-ish, but having tapped out most of the XP I need for a garage full of 'Mechs and sitting on a pile of c-bills has left me with little reason to continue purchasing Premium time.

If early bird sales were available to those who are on active Premium time I would consider continuing to purchase Premium.

I'm not standing here launching attacks and there isn't a reason to be defensive. I simply want to see more value in my experience. I'm a customer same as you. Wouldn't you like to see more value?

have ya noticed MM actually "working" lately? (Sure, it's "working as intended" so say the PTBs), lol?

If and when it does (maybe by the time they finally release the Orion?), then yeah, it will have that going for it. MM needs to work on total tonnage, not by class though, or i's a bad joke.

Oh a agree completely that the MM is broke all to H***. If/when they fix it (or when it...gasp...works) will be a diff story.

Do you really think it takes much effort to do a sale. The art department and marketing department are more than likely separate from the Paul has taken 3+ months to fix the SRM department.

It does take a lot of effort to make new mechs to sale them. If that effort would have been put into fixing the game maybe it'll actually be good by now. And we are going official launch in September. Greed and fail, fail and greed.

I get you and did take it the wrong way. I just wish I had more money to spread around and support both these titles. unfortunately this title is going down a road I cannot support any longer and Bryans complete lack of customer relation coupled with Pauls...well between those two and their tactics as of late I have decided to not financially support this game any longer.

As for Star Citizen, the wing commander genre was a genre I loved long before the Mechwarrior genre. To be honest the in engine videos already produced were enough to get me to e-cream my flight suit. The crowdfunding in SC is backed up by investors so it would be nigh impossible for the game to fail. That and it is stated to have things I want, a single player campaign and space ships :P.

Star Citizen is unique in that it is offering to fulfill the dreams of 1) those that grew up with the original Star Wars and 2) grew up playing the 90's era space sims. I don't think the CIG is creating an exact model of F2P because they are making something so special and nobody will be able to copy their practices as a shortcut to success. It also seems to me that much of SC is already existing in the minds and dreams of the CIG Dev crew. Rather than develop ideas and design their implementation and make sure all ideas mesh well I am guessing that much of the labor for Star Citizen is putting the already conceived and well-defined ideas into actual programming then refining that product - essentially I am suggesting that the current 14Mil or forecasted 20Mil would be equal to 40 or 50Mil at a large developer.
It is my understanding that the are no other investors for Star Citizen, it is just us. That after we reached 10Mil so easily CR told the investors he previous dealt with that they were no longer going to be part of the funding process. I could be wrong but I do believe that SC will be 100% crowd funded.

The creative department and the technical department are typically two different entities. You can't take a modeler's wacom tablet away and give him a .NET debugger.

See now your on the whole mech department thing. I was on the sale thing and your need to buy everything. I was going to start calling up your friends and family for a Victor buying intervention because you sounded like you needed help. They hired more people and the programmers and Director need to be the ones working on the background nonsense. Do we need more mechs? Nope not really but we'll take em. I'm with you on wanting some fixes in regards to damage/Convergence etc but thats all programmer nonsense. Most of us use standard c-bills for mech purposes so what they are doing isn't bad as it generates more revenue. I am more frustrated over them pushing back all the other crap to be honest. One thing they may see is regradless of how much complaining we do we still pay and play. I know I have. This last weekend was probably the most frustrated I've been in a year so I took a day off. If im still frustrated tonight I'll take a week off.

Do this with the clan mechs and you'll be rich lol.
Now the next cool move would be to release the hero variants as CB buyable without the bonus.

Lol they won't do that. They had a perfectally good cent that had a AC/20 and two missle hardpoints. They removed it saying it was for testing purposes. A week or two later they came out with the Yen-Lo.

Both departments have one leadership. If leadership thinks its fair to sell stuff for a broken game while its still in beta using THOSE kinds of methods I have a big problem with that leadership. And again, sales sales sales. Those sales made them more then enough money to hire decent people into 'fixing' department. But we've all seen Pauls post. Its just him. Nobody else touches the weapons. But they probably have hundereds of people doing ads and stuff for sales. I do question what my money and others peoples money is spent on.

I read this entire thread; all 10 pages of it; all I can do is shake my head and wonder what goes on in some of yours. Some names I see on here and I'm not surprised.

"Pay2Win... [read: I can't or won't afford the mechs but I want them now]". HOW? Explain your thoughts.

"Dividing the player base [read: I can't or won't afford the mechs but I want it now]" HOW? See above.

"Milking money out of players [read: I am going to complain about anything or I can't afford it]" HOW? See above above

Folks, listen up. You aren't being forced at gunpoint to spend the money. If you want it? Great get it! If you can't afford it then wait 7 days and save up some cbills during that time and get all of them at once. It isn't like the Victor is the be all to end all mechs that will obliterate every other mech out there just by looking at it. In fact the Victor is just as vulnerable as any other assault mech with barn door sized torso hitbox locations.

The mechs will be released in 7 days for cbills. You can't wait 7 days for something? Sheesh!

EDIT: Before some of you come back with "You are a whale and buy this and that etc. etc. etc." Let me put it into perspective; I only buy hero mechs when they are on sale at 30% off. That takes weeks or months sometiems. While many of you were running around in Heavy Metal I was sitting there grinding the C and P and storing them for when the HM went on sale. That took what? a couple of months? Got it this weekend. At no time did I say "ZOMG, Pay2Win". I found something that was cbill only and went and killed HM for giggles.

I think that the definitions of pay2win is skewed among the varying "F2P" games lets take WoT its F2P but has extreme P2W qualities being able to get tanks with cash that no one else can get for free for instance (example: hero mechs)let alone gold ammo. the only true F2P game that I play is LoL think about how furious the community would be with Riot if they released a champion and only let you buy it with real money for a week then let it be bought for in-game after said period of time. this is the exact thing PGI is doing with these Hero sales a week or two ahead of everything and now its migrated to the actual free variants.

ok sure its only a week or two but have you even looked at the time frame that the phoenix mechs are going to be released? people will have the battlemaster 4 months before anyone else can buy them with C-Bills. let alone the other mechs which are 1-2-3 months. This is not the definition of a F2P game there are ever increasing hints at P2W ever since the first iteration of CoolShot this has been happening, the HM sale and the victor sale, now we have it spreading to variant mechs. if it wasn't worse enough that the only mechs in the game you cant buy with in game cash were being released 2 weeks before the C-Bill ones now you are forced to pay for early access to the C-Bill variants as well.

F2P/non-P2W Definition: Everything in the game can be bought with in game cash. things can be sold for real money but will only decrease the grind necessary to obtain said item. items can be sold for real world cash and only real world cash if it does not give any in game boost AKA: cosmetics.(the hero mechs fall out of this as they give a niche that non-paying players cannot obtain "see misery only stalker with a B slot")

If you seriously want me to spend MC on them, you're going to have to put them on sale. At the regular price, there is zero incentive to not just wait a week (or more; potentially much longer) before buying these standard variants with MC.

The way the smart customer views this, is we can get the exact same thing next week as what is being offered this week. In order to get us to bite on this today, you would have to offer something that we can't just wait and get next week, and that means offering a discount on them to buy them this week.

We also gain the option to buy them with c-bills next week, which theoretically saves us even more money. Another incentive to simply wait.

If you were offering them early at, say, a 20% discount off the normal MC price, then I'd bite. That would actually be an early bird special.

As someone who buys quite a lot of MC, I would seriously consider picking these up with MC if you offered them at 20% off the standard price. As it is currently, I find the offer wholly unconvincing/unappealing.

Lol. Member he's got mad skillz he was number 7 in team castle ork shooter slayer or something. Not to bag on him his jobs tough and I still like MWO. But man they need an outreach program or something. I've been in the customer service/sales/marketing industry for over 18 years and one thing you don't start trends and then just stop them.

(EDIT: Servers are LIVE)

No that's not the name of a new breakfast meal, though it is good news! It means the Victor VTR-9K, VTR-9B, VTR-9S are available now for purchase!

NOTE: Until the 16th of July, these regular Victor variants are in the Hero Chassis list in Mechlab

...

Minor issue when I read "hero chassis list" - My initial impression was with 30% Hero bonus. Maybe most folks got it ok, but maybe clarify statement too? :P Off to take a peek at price for 9B, might just wait since I still have my DS to play... might not.

Oh! oh! I know when you do these "early bird" specials, maybe include a "early bird decal" only on these Mechs? You know a Robin tearing a worm out of the ground or something.

I have to be honest. I'd be more interested if the Victor was the ballistic heavy assault it was supposed to be instead of being a watered down Highlander.

stock variant built with AC20 x1 MLx2 SRM4 x1 ohh I guess the 2 MG make it this balistic killer

Leprechaun. p2w means just that. pay to win. Getting content that makes you win games (more often than without).

The only thing you can buy in MWO, that you NEED money for are Mech bays and the 30% cbill bonus (and cosmetic stuff). None of those gives you an edge in the actual game.
