Its an option which people don't have to take, I don't have to, you don't have to, its 7days early and then those that don't want to pay cash don't have to, those that do can..
FFs this foum is full of how the victor is an underweight under performing Highlander, and yet the same people are now yelling wah its pay to win..wah its a cash grab...
its an option..

OH WAIT, I FORGOT. MOST PEOPLE JUST READ THE FIRST POST, GET MAD, AND COMPLAIN WITHOUT THOUGHT. Forgot that's how it works on a forum. Oops, thought that was just for trolls and flamers. Didnt know the average person did that around here.
Sometimes I wish the moderation on here was a little more fascist just for the sake of not allowing this to happen:
1. Piranha Games makes post.
2. People read/misread/dont read the fine print and get p***ed off.
3. People post angry things.
4. People with half a brain/intention to read everything in the post reply to said things, trying to make people realize it's not the damn apocolypse.
5. People dont read posts/replies.
6. See Step one. Rinse. Repeat.
7. Alternatively, if people do actually read those replies, they just spout more stuff defending the fact that Piranha Games is the new Galactic Empire and that they will stop at nothing until the Mechwarrior franchise is in peices! *advertises a game they like, tells people to play it instead*
8. See steps 4 and 7 repeat continuously until topic is locked or reaches capacity.
Didn't realize people were so predictable, now I know why people get into the investment business...
/rant
/sorry
/but it really is true
If it makes you feel better, I've seen the exact same thing in other forums!

They should have added the VTR-9A, although they probably thought it would be abused with lots of gauss or PPC, but who cares we already have gauss and ppc blasting all the things. There was literally no reason to add the VTR-9S, when you can build the same exact thing from the VTR-9B.
The VTR-9S can carry three streaks though! An amazing fire power increase over the VTR-9Bs measly 2 streaks!!

I don't know If I agree with either sentiment, money grabbing or revolving door. Money grabbing is one perspective. Another perspective is this is a business. Do you walk into a Teriyaki joint and scoff at the 7.95 daily special on the sign? Mmmm, teriyaki... anyhow point is. Hmm, think I'm hungry.
Don't get the special if you don't like the offer. You can still order something else, or in this case play a Mech you already own, or don't and play a trial Mech.
Revolving doors are an interesting concept, on one hand games are increasingly disposable. Sadly. F2P offerings give players a huge menu to select from. A business must figure out how to navigate a treacherous flow of customers, or else what? They go out of business and who wants that with MWO?
If I think back to TT game, or model Trains, or D&D, how many hobbies are there where a person will spend hundreds of dollars to collect and enjoy their hobby?
Painting models, collecting cards, video games whatever. Buying (MC or C-bill) a Mech is like buying a item for your hobby. The bummer is that at the end you probably won't be able to hand your Mechs down to your kids to own/play with. Well, maybe that's a good thing, my kids and my comics... bad, bad combination.
All right - Teriyaki.

On more serious note you absolutely correct. So much crying and trolling that this forum is turning into Battlefield 3 forums. Anyone who played Bf3 knows what im talking about, this forum is dangerously getting close to that one .

Using peoples weakness (be it stupidity or impatience) is scam. End of story.
Have you ever taken a marketing class? Because guess what: that isn't scamming, that's just business sense. Have you ever seen those commercials with all the animals looking sad, asking for donations? Yeah, that's using a person's weakness (sympathy) to make money. Maybe not for personal gain, but still making money. Uh huh, guess they're scamming everyone.

I fail to see why it's bad thing for PGI to try and make money. Why would you not want them to try and make as much money as possible? More money for them is more content for us.
As long as they stay away from Pay-To-Win, it's all good.
Absolutely.
This is exactly the sort of monetization we want.

I thought communism was proven much worse anyway... It seems to me, that quite big F2P audience has missed a few pages from their book of world history.
