There is just no sound reasoning for changing the way the mechs are released. I mean why change now people have been saving CBills for the Victor variants since the Dragon Slayer was released last week, and now they release the variants this week only for MC. Everybody else will have to wait until next week, these are not hero or champion mechs they are normal variants of a chassis. They should be available to everyone like all other chassis have been before when released.

They will be available for all the c-bills you have saved next week. You aren't obligated in any way to pay for them out of pocket unless you want to do so. PGI and IGP have to make money. Bills must be paid and people generally don't work for free.

Any chance of us getting an Early Bird Special on Clans, Community Warfare, UI 2.0, less bugs, better performance (hell, I'd settle for performance as good as I got last year since that was better than it is now), or like... ANYTHING that we've been waiting for since 2012?

This has got to be the worst special.

If you actually commit to buying 2 Victors and the DS early, you would have spent effectively $50 on 3 mechs.

Even an early bird special has an actual discount... every freaking store in the world does this. I don't see why PGi's version should be the exception (unless you like just giving money away, which is completely up to you).

You can't keep doing this like that and expect no blacklash at some point...

The VTR-9S can carry three streaks though! An amazing fire power increase over the VTR-9Bs measly 2 streaks!! :(

Yeah, especially once the SSRM-6 makes and appearance :(

I have to be honest. I'd be more interested if the Victor was the ballistic heavy assault it was supposed to be instead of being a watered down Highlander.

Easy fix. Add your name to the many others wanting a STOCK only mode.

So the Vics are ready, but instead of a pleasant surprise we get a reminder that in f2p all players are equal, but some players are more equal than others... Can't say I personally mind this, but...

Ah, no offense but you can't have been paying much attention - PGI gets the backlashes they deserve practically every other time they post outside the Command Chair.

Only trolling here is you. Community Warfare is an entire pillar of this game missing, UI 2.0 has been talked about for almost a year, Clans are being forced to sit and spin for up to a year because PGI can't make a deadline to save their lives... I mean really, how is it trolling if I point out facts?

If you all at PGI can stop the hacking and cheaters I'll purchase more MC. Until then, good riddance to any monetary gains from this individual... not that you care, that much is obvious.

Hacking is a fact of life for any game. If thats going to cause you to stop spending cash on one, then you're a hypocrite until you stop spending cash for ALL games.

How does it hurt you whiners/crybabies to wait an entire week and get them for no $$ spent ? A week. I'm really hoping anyone whining about this is trolling and not actually bothered or upset they have to wait an entire week to get something they are paying nothing for.

Already ran into multiple Victors in game in just two quick matches , looks like they are making money , good for them , while I can wait a week I see nothing wrong with those who wanted them now. I suppose I should remember for every ridiculous whiner on threads like these there are far more players who just play and buy what they want , don't buy what they don't want , and don't whine or carry on over having to wait an entire week to get something.

Whiners on forums are usually a minority of those on forums, and almost always, the people on any given games forums are a minority of those in the game.

EDIT Another way of putting it:

Forum Whiners < Forum Users
Forum Users < Game Players

For anyone who says this thread has a lot of drama (don't read this wrong, there is a lot of drama here), remember when consumables were first introduced? That day makes this thread look calm in comparison.

Really disappointed... I'm not stupid enough to pay MC for what are CBill variants at what is an exuberant price. So the question is why release the Victor for MC early? Are you really that low on cash? Or the weekend sale didn't net you enough overhead profit?

I'll wait till next week (at least then I can change their colour), then show people porbably how to play the Victor... until then I'll continue to run the DS into the ground for more CBills (380XL's ain't cheap)!

PS. Anyone back calculated their cbill value based off the MC yet?

EDIT: Double posted me -.-

I have no problem with PGI finding new ways to make us spend money, as long as a portion of that money goes into developing the game and making it better.

For me, the Victor is not interesting enough to trigger a purchase. I have got a huge load of C-bills, and I can wait another week for it. If it was the Warhammer or the Mauler I would think differently.

I love how people on MWO are QQing about this when Early Bird Specials have been a part of Combat Arms' (and all its' effing ripoffs) marketing strategy for years. The difference between combat arms and this game?

It's not ptw, this game isnt a peice of ****, the new stuff is balanced, and the devs care. Oh, and there aren't hackers on every server. Combat Arms went nearly a decade w/o any of those things (but with the hackers :/), so imagine where MWO could go. (PS I know that, once again, after nearly a decade CA is going outta business. That being said, they ignored thier fanbase entirely the past year which is why.)

Early Bird Specials aren't going to destroy MWO, spoiled brats thinking they should get everything because they spent over $100 with thier HARD-EARNED MONEY OH MY GOSH!! are going to ruin MWO.
As a consumer, you're risking a small amount of your paycheck. As devs, they are risking everything. Thier livelihoods, thier futures, thier time, thier money, and with some, thier relationships (because some of these people care more about the greedy-********-known-as-their-playerbase than coming home every night to dinner. Because they want this game to be the best they can make it.)!

To all the whiners, just start a flame thread until it gets closed and vent your misguided, idiotic, greedy complaints about the new Victor there. Complain about how the Victor's arm placement is OP or something too, while you're at it.

Now about my opinion on this? Yeah, I hope the cooler-looking Victor model is used, but it won't be the end of the world if it isn't. I've lurked through the horrors of SARNA, so I know what the original mechs looked like. Every single one of the mechs in this game is a masterpeice in comparison to the previous mech renderings. The Victor looks like a great fire support mech, and I'm glad they're adding it via Early Bird. Only thing they need to change next time they do Early Bird is adding a 25% discount. That's what Combat Arms did, and every month they hauled in the money.

I hope the best for this game, and they better iron out the balance issues/community questions fast before the most spooked rats start leaving this slightly damaged ship. Otherwise, see Domino Effect :C Which I doubt we will see, but might as well put the pre-emptive warning there.

ADDENDUM: Thought I'd also mention that it's only one week into July, and the Devs have promised/are working on 20 different things at once this summer. Pheonix, monthly mechs, CW, Factions, maps, etc. etc.

I've seen the most dedicated dev teams have to go nearly a month w/o saying anything when they usually come out with weekly stuff, simply because it was a busy month for them. Everyone should expect more surprises and more excitement the longer they have to wait for info from the Devs. Calm down guys, they have till the 23rd to let us all know what's going on with the game this month. Personally, Im the most pumped about this game and PAYDAY 2, but you dont see me checking the forums every hour. People need to learn patience, something the tech generation caused people to forget...

I love this post<3
Thank you for this and I agree wholeheartedly:D

Oh I have... but I try not to lump bad sales with bad decision making at the higher levels (like balance, or the common courtesy to apologize for a incredibly late monthly dev post).

Then again, they are all kinda looking like the same at this point.
