I died with 84 pts of damage in an Atlas DDC the other day. Mainly because the entire rest of my team turned to chase a lone enemy light right as we were about to engage the enemy in brawler range. So...there I was..by my lonesome..too slow to make a run for it and my team suddenly scattered. If I could have made my atlas facepalm, I would have...

Confession:
I am one of those guys who does not even make 100 damage in about 1 out of 10 matches.
And it does not say a lot about my skillz or what mech i run actually.
When you meet enemies that communicate, run the actual meta and have some aiming, this will happen to you also.
5 PPC to the head one-shots an Atlas. Cores any medium from the rear.
And there is focus fire too. Play a medium, poke your nose round the wrong corner and get hit by two AC40 Jagers in center torso. Game is over after firing ONE round.
I observed, that the longer i play and the better my enemies got, the less overall damage was caused during matches. Duh.
So, what exactly is this thread about again?

1-2 shots happen pretty often when you play lights, meds or xl heavies.

pug life is always brutal. spent the past few days only pugging, and it's still bloody hard. But, it's also epically challenging and rewarding sometimes, and a great way to make new friends.
it is no where near as bad as it was last year though. in fact a bigger problem can be elo mismatches on teams, bad luck with team combos, and the epicness of big winning streaks followed by losing streaks.
right now with the pinpoint alpha meta the game is barely worth playing though. pretty much stuck with conquest and fast mechs if you want to have fun, otherwise its all just pinpoint sniping.

Way to miss the point. The issue is getting stuck on a terribly over/undermatched team in most matches. It is not about communication, or individual player skill. It's about seriously mismatched team skill levels, which result in unnecessary boredom/frustration depending on the side.

I've been there while running the only light with my Commando while there were 2 Jagers, 3 Highlanders and 2 Altas D-DCs. They all went down in under 2 minutes and I was like "where did you guys go?"
Been there and experienced that heaps. Last mech standing, driving a light, damage dealt out far more than almost all the team and up against 3, 4 and up to 8 to 1 odds...yeah riiiiiight...
Then that happens 4, 5 games in a row... Whats up with the match making.
