Just for fun: by using theorycrafting alone and forgoing everything else such as firepower, what would be the fastest you could possibly go?

That's not too bad, but I was hoping for 100+ KPH for the lolz. :)

It is definitely fun/weird to keep pace with (or outrun) Mediums and Heavies.

For comparison, that is WITH Speed Tweak, and is faster than any Hunchback without Speed Tweak.

I use my a XL385 in my Pretty Baby and 9M, with speed tweak it goes 85 kph. I love it.

The Battlemaster with a 400 XL and mastered, will do mid 80's at 85 tons.

My PB is the fastest right now at 89.1 The DragonSlayer can do the same too.

House Steiner has ordered 100 of these from my custom mech shop to serve as scouts. :)

Look at smurfys overview of Mechs: In the column for reactors you'll find the top speed of every 'Mech with the highest reactor possible.

So the Dragon Slayer is more maneuverable than the Pretty Baby while moving at the same speed? This makes me sad. :)

depends, I think the PB's torso twist is faster, but suffers in deceleration. Either way I think an XL380 is the best engine for either. Going bigger than that really seems to inhibit the payload you can carry, and the benefit is only 5 kph, hardly worth the tradeoff for an XL400.

I use a 370 xl in my Victor, it's not quite as fast as the PB or DS, but at 82 you definitely move like a medium/heavy and hit like an assault.

I'd say an XL380 is the best you'll get with out losing to much to tonnage. So roughly 85 and still be effective.

I find a 360 is a good sweet spot. Saves you 4 tons over the 380, and you only lose 4.5 KPH after speed tweak.

Wow... assaults going that fast? D:

That's like so troll. Makes my think my mediums and heavies are a bit obsolete in the speed factor >_>

Here: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Devastator
Look under custom variants. The MUSE EARTH was a ******** beast haha. 100kph for short times.
Carries a beast loadout and could probably crush any mechs in MWO or any mechs that will see the light of MWO. All you guys talking about the PB and Victors aren't real assaults haha. The devastator is 100 tons and hits speed you are incapable of... 80 tonners = inferior in every way.

EDIT: Charger could hit 86.4 kph and with tweak could move like crazy in MWO :http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Charger
(charger is a **** mech but is still fast)

Assaults should not go over 70 kph. They are assaults.
