Hi guys,

right now i am mastering my Atlases, but am close do be done with it (well, my RS still needs SOME XP, but that shouldn't take long).
So far i own (and mastered them all) those mechs:

LIGHT: 4 Commandos
MEDIUM: 3 Hunchbacks, 3 Centurions
HEAVY: 3 Catapults
ASSAULT: 3 Stalkers, 3 Atlas

I feel like playing light mechs more again, cause my commandos surely are just so much fun!
Definitely my fav. chassis so far, with the next being my stalkers. (yeah, weird combo, i know).

From the Catapults i enjoyed playing with JJs and my next mechs should have at least one chassis with JJs. What all of them have, so that makes the decision even harder.

My thoughts so far:

- Jenners: awesome harraser, with slim profile and great alpha. Really fast, too.
- Spiders: Fly, fly like the wind! Tons of JJs, awesome Trollmech. Sadly one of the 3 variants is useless.
- Ravens: Everyone hates Ravens, including me. I never piloted one though, so it might be fun. Sadly only one Raven has JJ. And i do not have to talk about what an abomination the 3L is...

What are your thoughts Forum Warriors?

Dont forget the Cicada in this list, but can't 100% recall if there is a variant with JJ's - think there is. As a light merdium, you can stiil move at ~140km/h

Personally I love the Raven over the Jenner, and as lng as you don't pilot the 3L you'll get no grief - well not until you kill an assault :o

Hi there :o

Spider, which is the only three Lights I own, probably should run totally different tactic than your 'mandos, as they're severely underarmed and are totally and entirely defenseless against ECMando and 3L. Stay within difficult terrain, and when the scouting period is over, RUN YER ARSE BACK to the big guys. Though late game you could start hunting down lone range-builds by backstabbing.

Jenners are somewhat similar to Spiders thanks to JJ. It has more firepower, which is always nice, but my memory with my Wang tells me that they're significantly easier to hit.

I stayed away from Ravens because I could already feel that the grinding process of the other two variants would be long and painful. The speed limit means those two could only be Assault defenders - admittedly you could make a pseudo-Urbie or a mini-poptart out of 4X - and not being very good at that.

EDIT: Yeah Cicadas are always an option. Just think yourself as an oversized, heavily armored Commando. Not mentioning that the ECM variant could easily get an AC3/5 in there.

Cicadas can't jump, that is why i left them out there. WOULD HAVE BEEN A REASONABLE EXPLANATION!
But, to tell you all the truth: i simply forgot about them.
Kinda shows what i think of cicadas, if i just completely forget they exist :S

Thx for your first feedback guys, it seems that the canon seems to be that despite of the 3L (oh, how i hate it) the other ravens suck...

Get yourself a jenner-D and see if you like it. It is a very good light mech that requires a bit more careful driving as lots of things will blast that paper thin armour off it in no time at all. The spiders don't pack enough punch imo and raven's aren't that rewarding to play. I haven't played cicadas since closed beta but was never a massive fan of them

I've played the jenners and spiders. There is noticeable difference between the two. Jenners deal more damage but die easier (especially now that everyone has mass ppc). The bigger body of the jenner is easier to hit, and somehow every shot seems to hit the CT. I guess thats why they call jenners CT's with legs. The spider has a much smaller profile so it's harder to hit. Especially when you can utilize jump jets well, then you become very hard to hit. But spiders don't deal much damage.

I liked the spiders more, and I have them mastered. Jumping around is really fun and you usually live through matches, no down time being dead.

If you want to have fun take the spider - it is unmatched in this category and the 5D is worth the pain of the other two variants. If you want punch take the jenner.

Hey - the 3L is just a scaled down Hellion Prime (4ERML, 3SSRM2, LRM10) ;] It's the best hunter killer mech in the game atm.

Jenny D/F is better armed, though no ECM puts a bit of a dent in SSRM2 usage in a fight with a 3L (he can shoot his streaks at you, and you can't, effectively making this a 4ML vs 3ML and 2SSRM2 fight).

The spider makes a great harrasser, though the 5V can't really take any big weapons. You can run all 3 with a large laser, and machine guns are actually useful for crit-hunting on exposed iternals.

You should try both of them!!! As I did)

Spider has only 1 viablle variant - 5D. Jenners are all viable.
So, I advise you to try Jenners first, especially JR7-F - awesome laserboat.

Iam all for Jenners IMO best light mech there, nice alpha of 20/30 ( i dont use missiles just lasers :P ) really fast. Sure those 3L can be pain but HEY we got JJ! they are great easy in/out of battle u can snipe with them also not bad if u can hold those mediums in 1 spot witch is not that hard if u setup ur sensitivity well. And i really like 2xLL + JJ on them :( might sound a troll build but its not it can be VERY deadly at 450m.

Raven 3L its not that great anymore after all those HSR for lasers/AC/PPC sure ECM its still good but its not GOD mode anymore, and in this case i preffer to be more mobile with JJ.

After i got frustrated a bit yesterday playing my atlases i decided to just quickly buy a new light. i mean at least those are cheap!
I played around with some spider builds and some jenner builds.... and finally noticed one thing what led me to decide for one of those chassis as my first pick: i already own a few XL300 (for my catapults) but no XL255s. and i am notoriously short on CB.

So yeah, i got myself a Jenner.
Quickly kitted it out and played a few games.

Here is my build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...62c8aa10795f58e
Seems pretty standard. Did someone manage to cram in a second ton of ammo somehow?

So far i am doing not bad with it, it took the first few games to get used to it. especially this having no arms factor is HUGE, if i go infighting with other lights i have to remind myself that i do not have arms as my commandos do ^^
The good thing is though, that i am experienced enough to not suck completely at firing SRMS. it was fun blasting a spider with them yesterday :P

Next up will probably not be a second jenner, but a spider instead. i will have to save up a few mios cash for the XL though.

The 2nd ammo just fits in there if you drop 2 JJ (but its not worth it imho).
I run streaks in my JR7 D: JR7-D

I thought about it for a brief time, but i just removed streaks from all of my commandos( despite of one *cough* ), so i didn't want to go that route again.
WHEN/IF rockets do damage again, i will love those 2 SRM4 on that mech.

Spiders are survivable, but most good players will ignore you for the buzzing fly you are.
Jenners will die quicker, but they're regarded as a real threat, especially when piloted well.

The big issue I have with spiders, just from spectating so many of them, is that the CT energy slots require you to not be jumping to use them effectively. This probably explains all the ERPPC ECM spiders around, but they get hosed just from losing one arm.

Also if you use too much jump fuel, you'll just end up being an easy target when you fall/land.

Well it looks like you already made your decision but here's my opinion on the options:

The Spider makes for an awesome scout and harraser. Nothing moves like it. Firepower though is low though and you will have to work very hard to deal damage. I have been impressed by ECM ERPPC Spiders.

The Jenner is a classic and still put out the most power of any light. They're fast and agile with easy to use symmetrical weapon load outs. Really there lack of ECM is the biggest weakness. ECM has become less prevalent though making them viable once more.

Honestly the 3L reigns supreme or a reason. It can nearly match the power and speed of the Jenner but with ECM instead of JJ. Any other light you fight will be at a big disadvantage against the Raven. That said the 2X and 4X are horrible making Ravens a true grind.
