Kill shot bonus = damage done(to mech total) * 1.5

Assist bonus = damage done(to mech total) * 1

Situation of kill steal

Jenner kill steals atlas for with 30 point of damage. Kill bonus = 45 pts

Atlas kill assist atlas for 300 damage. Assist bonus = 300

Atlas kills shots atlas for 300 damage. Kill bonus = 450 pts.

Atlas kill steals atlas with 30 point alpha. kill bonus = 45 pts.

Define "fairness", please... All I see this doing is discouraging people from attacking mechs that have already been hit by someone else because thair points will be less, which will be a b00n to the "My KDR IS Holy" duncecaps but be entirely detrimental to actual teamplay.

Actually rewarding players for trying to be Rambo in a team based game has always been and will always be a total fail.

Okay, so then how about you try not to kill or hit anything? That way you don't have to worry about some of your targets being worth less due to some other guy's previous work.

Fairness is rewarding more those that do the work, and less for those that do less.

that actually makes no sense. in the op's system you would get points for damage, with a 50% bonus if you get the kill. there is no logical reason not to still try for the kill, even if you do not get the most damage on the mech. It does not matter how much damage has already be done, since both time and maxium (damage) points are finite you will still only ever get x points.

It's an interesting idea. It would also have the side effect of encouraging people to use lighter mechs so that they're worth fewer points to the enemy team.

The whole point of the assist sytem is to reward focus fire and well when three dudes aim at one dude, a kill steal is gonna happen. MW:O is pro kill stealing, this ain't unreal man.

Is there really kill stealing in a team game? This is more of a whine, than a actual solution.

They do that in the current format. I encountered a raven 4 man that consistey base rushed in an amazing display of troll... With no armour. Even if you did kill them, you received very little points. EVEN IN DEFEAT, THEY WON!

Even though the initial laughter morphed into tooth grinding rage as the matchmaker kept deciding we should hang out, I had to admit I admired the commitment.

...yes...a **** load of it. In the last tournament a single kill steal (on a mech you wouldn't have gotten an assist on) was worth 600 damage worth of points.

For instance this:

No, just facts.

Here, here is a nice example of my steps working!

Posted Image

The D-DC, who was clearly carrying the team, gets 161 170 points for his effort.

My ninja Killstealing on the other hand?

192 186

Good job D-DC guy, I'm that much higher on the rankings cause of your work.

Now I just have to repeat this 9 more times.

Points updated for last tournament, which brought them closer because there wasn't as large a gap between kills and assists.

The best way to do it is to use the xp gained from kills/assists in the score, as those are already weighted based on damage done. AND REWARDING SOMETHING NOT BASED ON DAMAGE.

Your missing the point about team play. I can care less if someone finishes off the mech I was fighting, as long as we (team) win.

Your personal kill/death stats are fine and dandy but the only stat that really counts is wins/loses.

Never underestimate the value of a well placed shot. I've looked at a heavily damaged enemy mech and said "My teammates have got him... Don't want to steal the kill" Only to see that same mech later on limping around the map continuing to damage my team. As a Spider pilot i may not do a lot of damage in a round. For my game, it is best to kill a mech quick. Tear out his back before he realizes I'm there. There is nothing more satisfying than leaving an enemy completely healthy minus his cherry red center torso. Should I be penalized because I didn't do a bunch of superficial damage? Embrace the kill steal. It's one less mech you have to worry about.
