The spider hit boxes seem kind of wonkie. I see them run through a lot of shots that should hit but don't.

Sounds like lag issue if things aren't registering. Hit boxes you'd still get hits but in the wrong areas.

Ive almost given up shooting them, I'm not a great shot but sometimes you see the shot land and your reticle flashes red but their wire-frame doesn't change. And when I'm running some cheese (2 ERPPC, 1 GAUSS) that simply should not happen, it should be lots of damage or no hit, not something in between (with the current game mechanics, like em or not).

There's something broken.. land hits, see animation, no damage done. A good pilot can weave through the middle of the entire enemy force and take a long time before someone lands a hit. Though most of my experience was trying to laser them, maybe some other weapons track better.

I do have high ping though (300+).

Spiders and Centurions are the two mechs that need to have their hitboxes looked at.

I've hit Spiders with AC/40s (cheese, i know) dead center in the back while they were running away from me in a straight line and they just shrug off the damage and keep running. Reticle turns red, paper doll flashes, they take some minor damage and continue on.

Ping is usually around 75.

Not long ago i've made five AC40 shots at spider, with visual effect of "BOOM" on his armor, without ANY damage at all. Even Laser weapon almost doesn't scratch it.
All my friends have such stories. Don't think it is because of ping (Commando or other lights take shot as it should be).

P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

Can you imagine what the flea/locust is going to be like?
They are supposed to be smaller than a spider I am led to believe.

and of course, every c0mp3t1t1ve tryhard is using spiders today...

I've run spiders non-stop since the day I started playing and what I've noticed is that any hit to the torso seems to spread across all three sections, and often one or both arms. When I know I'm going to take fire I whip my torso back and forth as fast as I can to spread it all out. I get killed plenty often by AC40 Jagers.. I'm wondering if it isn't just that the hit animation is out of sync with actual hit registration? The damage spread is really all that makes the spider a viable mech :D they're too squishy otherwise. I'd say you should worry more if they were able to carry more weaponry than they do.

I will definitely run a locust, it looks like fun... what I *hope* is that the destruction animation has limbs go shooting off every which way ;) a glorious death for a tiny mech!

I've noticed bad hit registration against Jenners as well, I don't think it's just spiders. My money isn't on hitboxes, but on lagshield

Use LBX 10 <_< Had real good results with em against Spiders...against other mechs they are a bit underpowered though. I use to see Spiders with LRM/SSRM's orbiting them as they run around ,wich is actually quite silly dont know if its the AI not knowing wich box to hit em to or the lagshield though.

I pilot only spider 5d as a light. Its the smallest of the light mechs and IMO the most responsive and maneuverable even though its undergunned a little bit the speed and maneuverability and JJ makes up for it.

I never run in a straight line when enemies are around like I see so many other light pilots do. I've been killed plenty of times by streaks, lasers and PPC/Guass/AC20. Very rarely by LRMs though. Alot of matches I am the last man standing or one of the last men standing. The best light pilots choose opponents already engaged with a teammate. Thanks to the seismic module (whoevers bright idea that was) It is much harder to sneak up on the big fatties that everyone likes to take constantly. I still do it quite a bit though.

I never do as well in Jenners, I hate ravens and cicadas. I dunno about the commando because i've never tried it. to me spiders have the most adrenaline pumping action because it is fast paced and you can die much easier than other heavier chassis.

As another poster said, when I do get hit sometimes I will notice the damage being spread around by a weapon like a PPC or Guass. I have even seen streaks do whirlybirds around my cockpit every now and then and thats after they have sounded like they hit. So as another poster said, it could be the animations and damage indicators are out of whack.

I'll make a prediction now. When the speed cap is lifted and mechs can go over 150, there will be a whole other host of bugs show up in this game overnight that PeeGeeAye will spend 6 months trying to "fix". In the long run they will fix it after they've broken a dozen other things doing so.

I hope i am wrong, I just have the feeling of doom the last few months from them. Duke Nukem Forever anyone?

Spiders have unlimted armor, or so it seem, they should not be that hard to kill, but they are. something is wrong.

Ya, I think it's been acknowledged that something is weird with the spider.

I don't tend to have a ton of problems hitting them, other than the fact that good spider pilots are really freaking twitchy. But enough folks have reported this issue that I suspect it's real.

..question is, has it been acknowledged by PGI?

..wait, that happens 6months after the community, so I guess we'll see a fix sometime next year?

I've "hit" Atlases and the hits didn't register. It's an issue more prevalent with Spiders since they are the smallest widely used chassis. On an Atlas this usually results in the shot hitting the LT or RT instead of the CT, which of course isn't such a big difference. Having a shot completly miss a target you want to kill (spider) is a bigger deal.

I also had the reverse experience of seeing myself get hit (in several Mechs including Assaults) and no damage registered.
