Well yes. And not only that, it will last a whole 30 seconds while we cockpit shot all the Clan mechs stuck against one of the many buildings in River City. Wasn't that my point?

Hey, a lot of the bottom tier players kind of fight like clanners... they just run around and scatter, try to engage everyone on their own, abandon any attempt at tactical movement.

FupDup's suggestion of infantry is pretty awesome though too.
Seriously though. Industrial mechs.

I may be wrong, but aren't there other games that require some leveling up to obtain the best gear/character?

It would create balance and people would be forced to play better. If they played better they would get rewarded with a clan mech.

We are already restricted to running big mechs to maintain a 90% win rate. If we don't then we get put with the worst assaults pilots available. It's too hard to carry a team without having some armor.
