Btw, clan mechs should cost $150 million c-bills apiece.

Nah, they're gonna have repeatable special missions that you can do to enable a project that takes four hours to complete* to enable a one-time converstion of one million c-bills into ten Kerenskys** and Clan mechs will probably cost around one hundred thousand Kerenskys for an Uller***.

*But if you do more than two projects at a time, the projects take twenty hours to complete because this will balance out something somehow

**Yes, this is the unit of currency in the Clans.

***We're the Inner Sphere, even those people who are pretending to be the space furries. Use the IS calling names.

In all honesty, I'm sure clan mechs will be MC only the first month+ of availability. Of course that's all a speculation since the next two months will determine if the game fails and closes up shop long before the Clans arrive.

Pretty sure that they will have it 10 clanners vs 12 innersphere warriors, so two stars against three lances. Also, saying the clan warriors are better then any IS freebirth, and saying only the players with the highest ELO should be able to play clanners because they are the best, would be a way to stay true to the lore... if that implication wasn't false. There were some IS freebirth warriors who were better Mech Jockies then any Clan Trueborn. That means that only those in the middle bracket of ELO should have access to being a Clanner.

The matchmaker already teams me with a half dozen noobs in order to make my win/loss 50%.

At least on a team of four I suppose there'd be fewer noobs to block my shots ^_^ .

BWAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously?

BWAHAHAHAHA!

Ok, lets first look at the lore.

1. They ARE genetically engineered superpilots
2. They follow a strict warrior code of conduct
3. They prefer 1vs1 fights (no focus fire by teams)

If we go by ELO we would most likely see the following teams:

- High alpha Gauss ERPPC builds
- Poptart/Sniper builds
- Focus Fire Teams

Why? It's something that WORKS in this current meta of ours. I dont like it but that's what we have right now.

The best example of "proper" clan players would actually be the following:

- PUG players.

Why?

- Seldom focus fire due to lack of voice comms
- Team Communication is spotty at best
- Tends to become 1vs1 fights

You want clanners? Give it to us - the PUG's, the casual players who wants a good one on one fight.

Giving it to high ELO players? I fear the metagame would just move to clan design.

Heh... forgot to mention that stuff in my post... mainly the weapon builds part. Heck, theres a good chance some clan mechs will have four Clan Gauss Rifles and some Clan ER PPC's.

First things first, assuming that only the top players get the top gear in a F2P game is going to destroy their player base. If you want to role play the whole 'mech warrior universe' just look at the tabletop gaming community for this. Can you imagine the store clerk telling you that you cannot buy clan mechs cause you have low ELO or Win/loss ratio? Ludicrous isn't it?

Apply that same logic to PGI as a company, they make mechs on a month to month basis and release them for MC/Credit purchase. Do you think they are going to design 4-16 clan mechs not counting variants and then only provide them to the top 5% of players? No, that is never going to be the case, if you want this game to continue having a future and get nice things like balance then people have to buy mechs. If you restrict the right to purchase, this game will self-destruct and the top 5% will become the only players left and you will see the same people everytime you hit launch.

Now I think PGI are nice people and want to continue making content for us. So while this 'dream' scenario is what you really want, anyone seriously thinking this will take place will be sorely disappointed.

Just to satisfy your "High ELO" player base am sure PGI can design a nice cockpit item or custom colour scheme for your mech to say your better than everyone else.

http://www.sarna.net...e_Wolf_(Daishi) only 30 m c-bills per variant(it's an omni mech so I am not sure what/how many variants will be needed).

If I can't get a clan mech because my elo isn't high I'll be disappointed, given that I don't know what my elo is, I could care less what you think of it.
