Take a minute or two to read this new Command Chair post:

Now bask in the hilarity of the fact that 2 PPC + 2 ERPPC Stalkers and 2-1 PPC + 1-2 ERPPC Highlanders are going to come out of this unscathed.
EDIT: Aw, looks like they realized their mistake:

Garth was streaming with Phil till a few minutes ago and said that, at the beginning, PPC and ERPPC will be seperated, but will later count as the same. So the 2 PPC+ 2ERPPC build will has the same problem as the 4 PPC or 4 ERPPC build.

Guess it's time for 2 ERPPC + Gauss Highlanders/Miseries instead. Stalkers can probably just use a macro or something.

Hey guys, instead of addressing that the PPC is superior lets institute an idiotic system that no new player will understand that discourages you from shooting some arbitrary number of certain weapons.

I doubt they'll let that slide. I would assume the stacking penalty applies to any mix of ER and standard PPCs.

Bask in the hilarity of more nerfs for Mechs that use 3-4 PPC's, the Awesomes. Awesome are obviously very OP Mechs and vury scurry.

What's absurd about this is that those builds you describe there were instantly obvious basically every single person who plays this game with any degree of competence at all.

On some level, I have to assume that Paul recognized them, and has some kind of underlying (undescribed) mechanism that will prevent those things... but honestly, I no longer really have faith that obviously stupid crap isn't going to get put in the game. I had faith at one point, but damn, it's wearing pretty thin these days.

Well, 2 ERPPCs + Gauss wasn't that strong to begin with. Now all we need is to buff SRMs......

Still, it's a silly solution. Should've just nerfed PPC's heat.

If they're going this route it really should have had chassis exceptions since as you mention the Awesome is supposed to have 3 PPCs and the upcoming King Crab is supposed to have 2 AC/20s.

There should be quarks for mechs with stock weapon loads to not suffer penalties.

SRM4 and SMR6 combined also need a heat penalty I reckon, otherwise we'll never see SRMs damage increased to usefulness when not boated since the A1 would do too much alpha damage when boating them.

It's pretty strange also to see penalty for LRM15, but not for LRM10? 4-5 LRM10 are pretty strong, since you can even fire more often than LRM15.

It turns out that PGI did realize it and I made my thread too early:

While they're supposed to have them, I don't think they're supposed to fire them all at once? I recognize the Awesome could need a buff, but the problem lies more in hitboxes than anything else.

Question is now though, do we all really want to buff SRMs enough to make Splatcats insta-destroyers again? Or should we vote to leave it as is?

Jagerbombs are more versatile than Splatapults anyways due to longer range. I'd actually enjoy watching a duel between a post-buff Splatcat versus a current Jagerbomb (without the heat nerf).
