I'm a lore nerd in most games I play, and the BT universe has a huge, rich background that many people are obviously very attached too. In fact, it's so rich that I have no idea where to start...

My suggestion is to have a focused "story so far" history section. It would include the necessary information to get caught up on the current conflicts. An example of this being done well is in the Starcraft 2 installer, which briefly went over the events of SC1 for those who hadn't played it before.

The function itself would be nice, but where to put it?

There's too much story for a simple intro and judging by the look of menu and such, it has no place.

Also, SC 2 installer completely ignored part of the Brood War, making it a bit worse example. <_<

To the "ComStar Archive" item of the MWO main menu, leading to the BT encyclopaedia. MW2 had a similar thing in it's clan lobby menu.

Maybe not a "story so far"... but they definitely should have an intro that delineates the current state of things. Which houses are currently at war... something that'll help people into the storyline.

While I did answer my own question of "what's going on" thanks to the table top story guide here: http://www.battletec...erseGuide-1.pdf

But for others who aren't digging for the info, I still think it would be a useful feature.

I'm inclined to agree with Siilk and Wolf Greyson... MWO SHOULD have something so the n00bs can read up on it, study the lore a bit, BEFORE they get totally trounced by the vets out there! :)

What would be nice is an intro animation to the game which has a "quick and dirty" outline to what is happening which changes with each major change to the game each year. With a small law based news reel in the corner of the main menu which tells you what is happening today in the history of the universe as far as game law goes tabbed next to news from what is happening as far as player activity and announcements from the developers etc. However with that said I get the feeling the devs have thought of this. :-)

BTW the game does have a News Feed on it's main menu.

That is from the E3 Showfloor so no leaked Closed Beta content :)
