Except do PPCs and ERPPCs count together?
otherwise we will be in for tons of 2ppc\2erppc builds and tons of 2ppc\1erppc\gauss builds
I DO like how it is effecting dual 20s
simply because they would be way too strong after all the energy alphas get nerfed
is looking like a good month for balance to me

Yes ER and standard are being counted together. It will not effect ac/40's, the heat just isn't high enough unless they make the penalty especially brutal just for AC/40's, but that would require PGI doing something dynamic. What they are doing doesn't make a lick of sense. How can an awesome, a mech designed to spam PPC's, holding dozens of heatsinks suffer the exact same heat penalty as a hunchback that fires 3 PPC's? That does not make sense.
I think you need to look at the chart again, and start thinking about mechs like the Blackjack, swayback, and the number of dual gauss jagers you are going to start seeing.
Lastly, these rules are so arbitrary and random, any newbies who join are going to have no idea what is going on.

er and normals will be grouped on the 30th patch.
best guess is that once that goes in we will most likely see SRMS and gauss/PPC grouped as well as dual gauss to cut those pinpoint alphas risk/reward in line as well.

I am somewhat saddend that Awesomes get hit with the heat scaling but I have some hope that they will soon implement mech quirks on this topic later on. They mentioned due to current limitations they cannot do it but did not rule it out. This is a fairly decent bit of progress, won't stop all silly min-maxing but should hopefully stem some insanity. I had a few low PPC matches with a friend a while back (omg so rare) and it was insanely fun while the following matches with the PPC spam were probably the worst experience the game could possibly offer.

You mean Gauss will suffer a heat penalty? Oh Lord, how may we survive THAT?

Deer lord, I hope they don`t nerf the gauss with heat! If they do they might have to buff it with exploding less, and thats how I get half my kills!
(and yes, to get read in a joking manner. Don`t see why they would nerf the gauss even further, you already pay a HIGH price to have it, and dying from someone sneezing on it is enough.)

Awesomes really don't get hit with heat scalling per se. It has always been the case that the awesome had to alternate firing its three PPCs in a 2-1 pattern, even in table top. It will still be able to do that now just like Quad PPC build will be able to shoot pairs freely. What the scaling does do is make it so you can't trigger all at once, no more, no less.
