Granted it's a Beta so after 3 months away from the game I knew there would be changes, But I didn't expect it to lose all fun for me. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about losing, I'm not that arrogant and wasn't that good to begin with, but before my away time I didn't care about win/loss it was fun to run around in a Mech. Seems now you have to formulate the right build and stick to one type of weapon, cramming as many as you can to have any hope of surviving, let alone doing any real damage to others. I should of known I was in trouble when someone taunted me for using an Awesome as apparently their useless now, most concerning was he seems to be right. This is a game that doesn't allow you to jump on now and then, unless you like to be cannon fodder and abused by your 'Elite Team Mates'. I wish I had a suggestion to improve my dilemma but this escapes me at the moment. Maybe I'll just have to wait to see the finished product and hope for the best, oh well back to MW3 for now I guess.

Bad hit detection, a matchmaker that works on malice and cruelty and bad mad movement mechanics haven't helped, sure, but I've never had problems with abuse. A certain level is expected in any online game: foul mouthed 14 year old borderline autistic testosterone soaked males are, like small rocks you can't walk over in a mech, everywhere.

The worse thing for me has been these deceleration changes when going up a hill... getting stuck on a small rock or hill is just adding frustration not fun.

There are many things that make this game no fun now. The biggest thing that comes to mind is the fact that you have to drive a certain mech with a certain load out to even survive the first 2 minutes of the game. Which, in my mind, makes it no fun. I want to drive the mech that I want to and still be able to have fun, not drive the mech that has the biggest alpha, with PPCs only.

Welcome back to PPC warrior online/Missile warrior online. The test of 12v12 was a disaster, there were teams that only brought missiles, so 12 sets of missile alphas 40+ missiles in a single volley and WHAM...Dead. And it is similar with the 8v8 game, missiles and PPCs...WHAM...Dead...

Then there is the movement issues that were implemented. Can't walk up a 45* incline...Totally unrealistic, and because of that limitation, the smalles rock stops big mechs in their tracks...WHAM...Dead...

So you are not alone, the game has become no fun again. PGI has ALOT of work to do to get me back into the fun that is supposed to be Mech Warrior.

Give them time with this heat thing and you'll see the boats go down brawling come back. The new movement if its a small thing blocking you report it they have a thread for that. It's still fun and just need to wait and see.

Brawling will be a whole different beast under the new heat mechanics...

Thanks for that valuable contribution... *cough*

I've every confidence the movement system will be improved. Hopefully some sense of realism will be restored. Physics, PGI, physics! You guys might want to look up this guy called Newton.

Hit detection is being worked on.

The new heat mechanics will help with the PPC boating meta at the moment.

I hope they continue to tweak LRM balance - it's a bit difficult at the moment with so many areas that look like good cover tuning out not to be due to vertical flightpath. They have yet to fix splash damage - that will be interesting when it gets reintroduced.

the ppc meta is kind of lame yes. That said, I can still score 70+ in most games and maintain about 2/1 ratio in an AWM (possibly the easiest kill in the game) as a Medium Pulse boat (most recent nerf, and not generally recommended) -> Simply by position and situational awareness.

If you bring the play style that served you well months ago and expect it to still be viable, you'll probably be disappointed.

(in no way am i endorsing this current PPC meta as balanced or fun though)

Some of your posts have made good points, I just don't know how PGI intend to bring in new players to the game/MW world at the moment. I'm a huge fan of the MW universe and I really want this game to succeed but I can't see someone who is unfamiliar with the universe giving it much time let alone throwing any money at it, really hope I'm proved wrong here.

About that, it takes a lot of getting used to. Theres Times I forget that old paths up hills on Alpine and Canyon don't work and I kinda bump into a wall like a doofus. Just give it some time.

I just want to say that the PPC boats are getting really, really, really old.

At the moment if you don't PPC boat you die. It's the only build that works and it takes so much fun out of the game.

I would be nice if all the weapons and mechs had somewhat of a purpose.

For instance when was the last time someone used a trebuchet or flamers?

PGI lost all perspective and refuses to treat these easily fixable problems that many of us called back in closed beta. Check my sig for examples.

They have proven now they have no interest in changing course.

So wait you guys think the awesome is useless? Thats not true at all. The good ol aquafresh awesome can launch a blob of 60 missiles in a single shot. Non of that tube limitation crap. Let me tell you it is exciting watching 60 missiles fly over a hill. yee haw

Btw i forgot to mention, the fedsuns were sitting in mumble one day wondering what the worst and yet most hilarious mech build was. Basically we took a trebuchet and put an lrm20 in the NARC slot. We also added a flamer. So, it launched 1 missile every half a second or so out of the flames. From a distance it looked like someone was taking a leak on another mech. So yeah.

Its not the 'coming back after 3 months away', its the fact that the game has degenerated from a 'tactical shooter' were you took off arms, legs, weapons.. and such to kill an enemy mech, to be what you now see with the 'load as many weapons / as powerful weapons' as you can onto your mech, set them ALL to the same fire-group.. and try to out-alpha the other guy while ONLY aiming for the CT.

3 moths ago, i'd see mechs losing arms, and having damaged legs all the time. Nowadays?.. i ONLY ever see CT damage, no other damage done to any mech except for 'accidental' damage when the enemy happened to stop or change directions suddenly causing the other guys aim to go off. Beyond that.. EVERY SINGLE ATTACK is always aimed at the CT now. No one ever aims for anything else.

This has caused the gameplay to degenerate into 2 playstyles. Those who use the mechs that can carry the most firepower and do the highest alpha's. And those who use lights with, again, as much firepower as possible and run circles around the larger mechs, again doing only alphas, and again, only aiming for CT.
