Hi guys,

Once in a while I play this fantastic game. I've played all the original games back in the day
and i'm actualy still waiting for the classic mechs to make an appearance.

i'm talking about the thor/summonor, timberwolf/madcat, vulture, mechs like those.

Can anyone tell me if these are still yet to come? Cause it would make my expierence a lot more exciting to be honest, maybe even willing to put some money in the game!

Please excuse me if things about this topic are already cleared up, but as i said i'm not fully connected to this forum.

Hope to hear from you guys, see you on the battlefield

Actually what we have in game right row IS the classic mechs or most of them anyway.

The mechs you are talking about came to Battletech much later.

Those mech are Clan mechs and we should start seeing them next year.

Yeah this is what I figured. Alot of people are drawn to this game that aren't long term fans of Battletech/Mechwarrior and/or aren't familiar with the table top game or lore so no biggy.

The first ever Mechwarrior game had 8 mechs.

Locust
Jenner
Phoenix Hawk
Shadow Hawk
Rifleman
Warhammer
Marauder
Battlemaster

Currently one of these mechs are in the game, and by October, three of these will be added. The rest may never see the light of day due to copyright and legal issues.

Yes, that is the Mechwarrior 1 cockpit.

When you play Mechwarrior 2, you're playing as Clan Jade Falcon or Clan Wolf. The Clans were a bunch of soldiers who decided to leave the Inner Sphere in 2784, taking super awesome technology with them, and go off into space, and everyone forgot about them.

Mechwarrior Online is set in the Inner Sphere. We don't have Clan technology. We don't have the timberwolf, mad dog, stormcrow, summoner etc etc because the Clans designed them. You obviously know that these mechs have alternate names; the one is the actual name of the mech that the Clan designers gave it, the other is the reporting name that the Inner Sphere forces call the mechs.

The Clans made up their mind to invade the Inner Sphere in 3049. So nobody's seen them for almost 300 years. In that time they designed all these cool mechs and improved their technology.

Mechwarrior Online just happens to be set in 3049.

Basically, the plan is that we're going to see these mechs eventually, because they're going to be fighting on the side of the Clans and trying to conquer the Inner Sphere.

See http://www.sarna.net...peration_Exodus and http://www.sarna.net...eration_Revival.

edit: originally I thought Mechwarrior 2 was set just before the clan invasion, and was Wolf Clan's Trial of Refusal to attempt to prevent the invasion of the Inner Sphere. Apparently it is set in 3057 instead.

To add to this information for new players. The Clans also sent forces to recon the Inner Sphere ahead of the invasion in the form of "Wolf's Dragoon's" disguised as an Inner Sphere Merc Group.

As noted in Hyper's links above, the Clans started to invade in 3049 (starting with the Periphery) and up to 3052.

You forgot Crescent Hawks Revenge which predates this which had the Camelon and Locust. Although I guess technically your right because the game you mention is the first one to be named Mechwarrior and I played the heck out of it. That game is where my love of the Marauder was born.

Also to add about the Clan's. Even though the invasion technically ended in 3052, the clans did not give up the territory they won prior to the end of the invasion. Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf and Clan Wolf-in-Exile all still have significant forces in the Inner Sphere well after the invasion. Also clan Nova Cat changed alliegence and became part of the new Star League Defense Force for a while. There are also several other clans with holding in the Inner Sphere well past the invasion as well.

I am quite aware of Crescent Hawks Inception and Revenge. But that game lineage belongs more to the MechCommander and now the Mechwarrior Tactics game. I enjoyed those games too, though for different reasons. And yes, i also played Crescent Hawks.

Crescent Hawks revenge was the second Crescent Hawks game - the one with damn near every mech and vehicle in it. Inception was the one with the Chameleon. It also had the Commando, and non playable Jenners and Urbanmechs (and a tiny cameo by the Phoenix Hawk LAM). And if you had even a small amount of technical skill, you could fire up a hex editor and stick any mech you wanted into Inception and Revenge.

Yeah the Crescent Hawks games were definately more of a tactical or RPG game than an sim which is why I mentioned that while they came first, the game the screen shot came from was definately the first sim game.
