I find that the xl300 plus 10 tons of ammo provides the best balance between ammo, speed and heat. Obviously you can remove the one heatsink or a ton of ammo for some backup lasers, but i find that i really dont need lasers when i stick with the main group and dakka away.

With Ferro-Fibrous armour, you can add a little of the armour back on the arms, and get another heatsink or lasers, more ammo, or even more armour.
I also moved the ammo to less dangerous (in my opinion) locations, I rarely loose an arm on a Jager before I lose a torso.
