I am just showing how assaults and Heavies are not the only way to go.
Mech load out:
MPL X 6
STD Engine 240
18 DBL Heat sinks
268 of Ferro-Fibrous armour....(I'm from Canada. I spell it like that)

Consider this tho... are you gonna try and beat say a Highlander in a 1 on 1 fight in your Hunchback?
Obviousely assault mechs are build to be damage and kill machines. In a kill-everything-to-win kind of games they are best. In run-around-bases-avoid-fighting kind of games lights are best. This game most times turn into kill-enemy-team to win type, thats why most people bring assault mechs. Only normal size maps we have are Alpine and Tourmaline, and thats why only there you very often see those same assault pilots complain about a single spider from the other team that stayed alive and capped everything for a win even tho all his teammates are dead. And only on those maps tonnage means less then haveing good lights on a team. All other maps are too small and after the main fight assaults have enough time to spread and cover the bases.
This game needs more tactical elements to it apart from 'big-horde-kills-all' strategies. If it'll have them, if we'll actually have incentive to defend bases just as some static base defences then you'll see more and more people using various mechs, not just assaults and unhittable spiders.

Already did and i dont fear Highlanders in a Hunch (when i got space to move, in a tunnel eeeehrm well never face an assault in a tunnel if you dont sit in a assault ). What i am worried are Catapults or Stalkers or Jägers or other Hunchies and thats it. I mean face it, what i listed are Boating Mechs, most run the same Loadout nothing special. And thats the dangerous thing about them: 2 of em Focus you and you are dead.

Let me rephrase. Are you gonna try and beat a Highlander pilot that actually knows what hes doing in a 1 on 1 fight?

Good game.
Seems like you're doing what you're supposed to - provide fire support.
Why go toe to toe with an assault? What does that prove?

- bigger Mechs loose some of their most effective weapon configs
- bigger Mechs are easy prey for buffed SRMs
- SSRM, mostly useful against smaller Mechs, are simply out of the game
- smaller Mechs change all their SSRM launchers for SRMs, bad for the big ones
So OP is right, playing smaller Mechs is easier now.
But:
Playing a Mech, that is not known as a powerful thread, often results in a much longer lifespan and more damage. If I play my Cata K2 I live much longer than in my Firebrand, they have the same Weapons, same weight, same armor, same speed, yet everyone heard of evil Jagers and shoots them first :-)

and the Spider 5V. It looks like the enemy team did a pretty good job overall too, it's just that they lost. The above is, I hope, an example of a pretty good brawl: A team wins by destroying all enemy mechs with only one left standing. Regarding Hunchies, when I'm in a light and I see a one, I will ALWAYS concentrate as much fire as possible on the hunch. Once pilots figure out how to protect this vital spot they last longer and are able to do more damage.

This is not boasting about my personal ability, this is the way MechWarrior is meant to work. Assaults don't have the maneuverability to kill a well-piloted Light.
Not only that, Lighter mechs tend to be more adrenalin-inducingly fun. When you can be crippled or killed by just a few PPC shots, it lends a whole new perspective of how to approach a battle. You need to attack from the flanks, and use maneuverability as your armour... jump and jigging.
The best Spider pilots (and I'm not yet one of them) are in fact the best pilots in this game.

Come on, vs. a skilled HGN "Pilot" with JJ's and 2-3 streaks you wont win, maybe 1 out of 10 times, but this is still generous.

Or it might be the broke netcode and having to lead your shots on lights by varying amounts based on speed and ping...

Does he have the new nerfed Streaks, or the old CT-seeking Streaks...?

Actually new streaks are better. If I accidently blow open your side torso they will hit it now. And they will hit your legs, and legs is where I'd aim on any light.

Its not Jenners or lights. Its pretty much everything. I had many games where my targets stood still and took no damage whatsoever from an alpha dead CT.
